Marshall County, KY, Uses FEMA Reimbursements and DHS Grant Funds for "Medical Gator"

Marshall County EMS, based in Benton, KY, serves residents and tourist of this southwestern
Kentucky community, bordering Kentucky Lake, and the "Land Between The Lakes" recreation
area. Recently, they placed into service a John Deere Gator 4X4 XUV outfitted with a MedLite™
EMS insert in the cargo bed. The medical insert allows for safe transport of a patient on a long
spine board, or packaged in a Stoke's type basket stretcher or litter. It includes an adjustable
attendant's seat and a storage compartment with slide out tray for EMS equipment.

The Gator 4X4 utility vehicle was funded by 'Marshall County Fiscal Court' through allocation of
FEMA reimbursement monies from the 2009 winter ice storm that struck this region. Funding
for the MedLite™ medical insert was obtained through a US Department of Homeland Security
grant administered by Kentucky's Office of Homeland Security. Along with the Gator and EMS
insert, a 20 foot long 'Special Response Support Trailer' was purchased to house and transport
the off road rescue equipment county wide during major emergencies. Additionally, this trailer
has been outfitted with medical, rescue, communications, and command supplies for use as a
forward command post during disaster responses throughout the region.

During the parade, four 911 calls for medical emergencies within the city were dispatched.
Due to its' small size and maneuverability, the "Gator" was first on scene with Paramedics.

Emergency services administrators realized the need for this equipment during the 2009 winter
ice storm. Due to the numerous blocked roads caused by this regional natural disaster, health
and welfare visits to elderly and infirm citizens were almost impossible. Plus, some emergency
transports were delayed for days due to restricted access by conventional emergency vehicles.
The Gator's size and 4-wheel drive would have allowed it to go around many of these obstacles
to reach those in need. Also, Marshall County EMS responds to several ATV, hiking, boating
and hunting accidents every year. As such, the addition of this 4X4 off road emergency vehicle
will improve response times and enhance the safety of both emergency personnel and patients.

Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series - Great Track, Fans, and Racing in Round 7

Another beautiful day played host to Round 7 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series here at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT. Some of the usual winners were again victorious, but there were also several drivers who took their first trips to the podium’s top step. A great crowd was on hand to experience excitement, action, and history first hand, and this terrific facility has been everything this off-road traveling circus could ever ask for. In case you weren’t here to enjoy it in person, here’s how the action broke down.

Modified Kart
Utah fans got their introduction to short course off-road racing from the always exciting kids of Modified Kart. Sheldon Creed and Mitchell DeJong started on the front row, and it was Creed in the #522 The Fab School/Hoosier machine who took the early lead ahead of DeJong in the #524 Speed Technologies/Bull Dog kart. In third came Zac Hunt in th#534 Creative Fabrication and Design, Inc. truck, followed by Brandon Vermillion in the #585 mavTV/Hart and Huntington kart, and Bradley Morris in the #504 K&N Filters/Kicker machine. Creed and DeJong quickly pulled a gap on the rest of the field, while behind,     JR Guthrie had moved up to third in the #555 Guthrie Racing/Gatorwraps.com kart, with Morris now fourth and Hunt in fifth. Hunt recovered his lost spots, and was back up to third at the competition yellow, behind Creed and DeJong, and ahead of Guthrie and Morris. Morris picked up one spot on the restart lap, and up front, Creed was absolutely flying. Creed pulled clear of the rest of the field, and went on to take a great win, followed by DeJong, Hunt, Morris, and Guthrie. Creed also took the fast lap with a 50.450.

Junior 2 Kart
Fans who were in attendance for the Junior 2 Kart race were witnesses to a piece of history. Chad Graham got the early lead in his #410 Bulletproof Suspension/Cornwell Tools Racing machine, followed by Shelby Anderson in the #405 Walker Evans Racing kart, Sheldon Creed in the #422 A.M. Ortega/Fox Racing Shox truck, Maxwell Ries in the #474 ProAm/Kartek machine, and Bowen Brooks in the #477 Synergy Electric Racing kart. The top five immediately pulled away from the field in a strong train, with Creed briefly moving up to second before dropping two spots to fourth. The top three, Graham, Anderson, and Ries, then pulled a bit further ahead, and at the competition yellow, they still held the top three spots, followed by Creed and Brooks. Brooks dropped out on the competition yellow lap, which promoted Micaela Cheek to fifth in the #457 CMI machine. After the restart, Anderson really came to life, taking the lead and pulling Graham and Ries with her for second and third places as they moved ahead of the rest of the pack. Graham lost it in turn one, which let Ries get by for second. Ries was now the only threat to Anderson, but Anderson held tough to take her first win, the first win for a girl in any LOORRS kart class. Anderson is also only the second female driver ever to win in any LOORRS class! Oh, and did I mention that she set fast lap with a 58.912? Second went to Ries, who was followed by Graham in third, Creed in fourth, and Cheek in fifth.

Junior 1 Kart
Capping a fine series of kart races for Round 7 were the boys and girls on Junior 1 kart, and without points leader Brock Heger in the field, the race was wide open for the first non-Heger winner of 2010. Preston Roben jumped out to the early lead in the #210 Duggins Construction machine, followed by Cole Mamer in the #235 Mamer Racing kart, Jack Yeiser in the #244, Wolfgang Ries in the #273 ProAm kart, and Broc Dickerson in the #223 Dickerson Motorsports truck. The top three drivers pulled away from the rest of the field in pretty short order, and from these three, Roben and Mamer pulled even further ahead in a great battle for the lead. Further back, Travis PeCoy jumped up two sports to fourth in the #211 Download Action Video truck, with Dickerson holding on for fifth. Yeiser was able to close down the gap on the two leaders, and as the competition yellow came out, it was still Roben, Mamer, Yeiser, and PeCoy in the top four, with Ries back up to fifth. After the restart, Ries lost it and went off the track, dropping him well back in the order, and promoting Corey Geiser to fifth in the #245 Canidae machine. Up front, Mamer’s persistence in battling for the lead finally paid off, as he got by Roben to take the lead through the moguls. Geiser then got around PeCoy to take over fourth, while Yeiser moved up a spot to second. From there on in, the top five drivers held their positions, and at race’s end it was Mamer who took the win, followed by Yeiser, Roben, Geiser, and PeCoy. Yeiser finished just out of a win, but did snag the fast lap with a 1:02.810, over two full seconds quicker than any other driver!

UTV
For the first time this year, the UTVs were elected to run the shorter kart track, in an effort to keep the action closer to the fans. This tighter track made for a great race, and really put the 4-wheel drive Unlimited UTVs at an advantage over the more technical terrain, with the top six spots in qualifying going to the Unlimited UTV drivers. RJ Anderson and Robert Vanbeekum started on the front row, and after a big collision in turn one forced a full restart, it was Anderson who took the lead in the #637 Walker Evans Racing/South Point Polaris when the track went green for the second start. Behind Anderson came Vanbeekum, Austin Kimbrell, Tyler Winbury, and Chad George. Kimbrell was on the move, jumping up to second and then to the lead in his #607 Monster Energy/UTVUnderground.com Kawasaki. Chad George was close behind, moving his #642 Monster Energy/Funco Kawasaki up to second as Anderson went wide on the alternate line around the moguls. Anderson then slowed a bit, dropping out of the top five, which put John Dempsey up to fifth in the #655 Custom Off Road Designs/Racin’ Dirty Kawasaki. The top two drivers were gapping away from the rest of the field, with George being virtually glued to Kimbrell’s back bumper in the battle for the lead. As the competition yellow came out, these two were still at it out front, followed by Winbury in the #694 Funco/King Off Road Racing Shocks Kawasaki, Vanbeekum in the #664 Xtreme Machine and Fabrication/Muzzys Kawasaki, and Dempsey. The top five held their positions after the restart, with Kimbrell and George still very close, but with just a couple laps left, Winbury threw in the fast lap of the race with a 1:01.220, and made it a three-way battle for the top step on the podium. Kimbrell drove brilliantly, however, and was too strong for George and Winbury to beat in the end. Kimbrell took a great win in a thrilling battle, followed by George, Winbury, Vanbeekum, and Dempsey. The SR1s weren’t quite up to the pace of the Unlimited UTVs, but it was Greg Frantz in the #877 Lonestar Racing/Simpson Yamaha who took his first career win, finishing sixth overall. Second in SR1 went to the #844 Ivy Trucking and Grading Yamaha of Tyler Herzog, and third in SR1 was Gary Thompson in the #802 Thompson Roofing Yamaha. Fast lap in SR1 went to Frantz with a 1:02.418.

Limited Buggy
First out onto the full-length track were the Limited Buggies, and it was a strong front row of John Fitzgerald and Kyle Quinn who headed the field at the drop of the green flag. Fitzgerald took the early lead in the #314 mavTV/Lucas Oil machine, followed by Bruce Fraley in the #312 Freeman’s Carpet Service Fraley, Curt Geer in the #392 Green Army Lothringer, Kyle Lucas in the #325 Lucas Oil buggy, and Dave Mason in the #365 Western Motorsports AlumiCraft. Despite taking the early lead, Fitzgerald seemed slightly off the pace throughout the race, and he was soon passed by both Fraley and Lucas. Behind them, Justin Smith was now up to fifth in the #319 Bully Dog Fraley, and after Lucas spun and dropped to fifth, Smith moved up to fourth. Smith continued moving forward, taking over third and then second, while up front, Fraley had opened a sizeable lead on the rest of the field. At the competition yellow, Fraley was still out front, followed by Smith, Fitzgerald, Geer, and Lucas. After the restart, Lucas began to recover some of the spots he’d lost with his earlier spin, picking up fourth and then third. Just ahead, Smith was really giving Fraley a run for his money, laying down the fast lap with a 1:13.829. and eventually Smith took over the lead as Fraley picked up a flat right rear tire. Fraley soon ducked into the hot pits, dropping him well back, and moving Quentin Tucker into fifth behind Smith, Lucas, Fitzgerald, and Geer with one lap to go. On the final lap, Smith was unchallenged for the win, and he took home the checkers for the second time this season. Lucas’ engine starting to smoke a little on the last lap, slowing him enough to allow Fitzgerald and Geer to get by. Fitzgerald just edged Geer for second, while Lucas took fourth and Kenny Freeman made a late charge to sneak up to fifth in the #302 Freeman’s Carpet Service buggy.

Pro 4 Unlimited
This weekend has seen the return of one of the all-time great off-road drivers, Rob MacCachren, to the Pro 4 Unlimited ranks, this time with the newly-formed Stronghold Motorsports team. MacCachren’s #21 Rockstar/Stronghold Motorsports Chevrolet started outside of Travis Coyne’s #5 ProComp/Toyo Tires Ford on the front row, and it was Coyne ahead of MacCachren in the top two spots at the end of lap one. Behind these two came Curt LeDuc in the #43 Rockstar/Kal-Gard Ford, Kent Brascho in the #8 BFGoodrich Tires Chevrolet, and Josh Merrell in the #22 mavTV/Hart and Huntington Ford. Rick Huseman, who’d started well back and been slowed while avoiding an early spin out that happened ahead of him, moved up to fifth on lap two. Huseman soon moved up to fourth, then third in fairly quick order, while ahead, MacCachren had gotten around Coyne to take the lead. Huseman then got around Coyne for second, and was quickly up to MacCachren’s back bumper to challenge for the lead. With the competition yellow now out, it was MacCachren and Huseman nose-to-tail in first and second, followed by Coyne, LeDuc, and the #1 Lucas Oil/General Tire Ford of Carl Renezeder. Huseman quickly got around MacCachren on the restart, while Renezeder had an even better lap, getting from fifth to second and putting himself in with a real chance of grabbing the win. Further back, Adrian Cenni was now fourth in the #11 BFGoodrich Tires/Atrium Payroll Chevrolet, while Coyne had dropped to fifth. Coyne and Brascho then got around Cenni for fourth and fifth, and although Cenni was able to re-grab fifth briefly, he soon pulled off the track and out the race. Up front, Renezeder was doing everything he could to put pressure on Huseman, but Huseman eventually opened a small gap on Renezeder, and with one lap to go, Renezeder’s luck got a whole bunch worse. His truck caught fire briefly and continued to smoke as he crossed the start/finish line to begin the final lap, and he pulled off in turn one, climbing out of the truck as it sat, still smoking. Huseman was now in the clear, and his battered truck came home victorious for the fifth time in seven races this season, taking the fast lap as well with a 1:03.824. MacCachren had a good re-introduction to Pro 4 Unlimited action with a second place finish, followed by Coyne, whose luck seems to finally be turning around a little. Fourth went to Brascho, and rounding out the top five was the #31 K&N Filters/Alpinestars Ford of     Mike Johnson.

Pro Buggy Unlimited
Pro Buggies were up next, and Rich Ronco in the #999 Tatum started alongside Cody Freeman in the #994 FCS Flooring Racer on the front row. Ronco got a good start to take the early lead, followed by Cameron Steele, Jerry Whelchel, Cody Freeman, and Larry Job. Steele and Whelchel soon got around Ronco to take over the top two places, and with his car slowing somewhat, Ronco dropped out of the top five shortly afterwards. This moved Bobby PeCoy into the top five in his #973 downloadactionvideo.com AlumiCraft. Freeman was the next to hit trouble, as he pulled off the track with engine troubles, moving PeCoy up to fourth and Doug Fortin to fifth in the #996 Fortin Racing, Inc./Fox Racing Shox Racer. Up front, Whelchel’s #901 Foddrill Motorsports Toyota was hounding Steele’s #916 Menzies Motorsports/Metal Mulisha AlumiCraft for the lead, and Whelchel finally managed to sneak by just before the competition yellow. At this point Steele was now second, with his teammate Job third in the #907 BFGoodrich Tires/Rusty AlumiCraft, PeCoy fourth, and Fortin fifth. On the restart lap, Fortin got up to fourth, while Ronco was back up to fifth. Fortin then got a flat left rear tire, dropping him out of the top five and moving PeCoy back into fifth. With one lap to go, Whelchel had command at the head of the field, followed by Steele, Job, Ronco, and PeCoy, who all held their positions through the checkered flag. Whelchel’s win is his second in three races since joining the Foddrill team, and he took the fast lap to boot: a 1:10.580 on lap ten.

Super Lite
After taking a great win in last night’s Grill ‘N’ Thrill Super Lite race, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg was once again at the front of the pack for much of today’s Super Lite main event. Stenberg took the early lead in his #88 Rockstar Energy/Metal Mulisha machine, followed by Dawson Kirchner in the #16 Speed Technologies truck, Ricky James in the #24 Rockwell/Bully Dog truck, CJ Greaves in the #33 Traxxas/Monster Energy machine, and Chad George in the #42 King Shocks/Kawasaki-sponsored truck. James hit a brief issue and dropped to sixth, but was quickly back up to fifth. Up front, Stenberg was pulling clear of the field, while Chad George was also moving forward to take over third place. At the competition yellow, Stenberg still led, followed by Kirchner, George, Greaves, and James. On the restart, Kirchner nearly spun in turn one and dropped down to fifth. As trucks swerved to avoid Kirchner, the order got shuffled thoroughly, and with Kirchner quickly back up to third, it was now Stenberg, Greaves, Kirchner, Johnny Harrah, and James in the top five. Stenberg then hit truck trouble, losing the lead to Greaves and then pulling off the track and out of the race. Greaves led with one lap to go, and after missing out on wins with last lap dramas on two occasions this year, Greaves was able to seal the deal this time, taking his first career LOORRS win. Second went to Kirchner, third to Person, fourth to Harrah in the #9 Speed Technologies truck, and fifth to James. Stenberg was able to salvage a best lap, a 1:14.593.

Pro Lite Unlimited
The always exciting Pro Lite Unlimiteds would be the penultimate race of the day, and it was Stephan Papadakis in the #4 Magnaflow Exhaust Nissan and Sean Geiser in the #16 ReadyLift/Slednecks Toyota who started on the front row. Neither driver, however, was able to hold the lead, as both Chris Brandt and Jimmy Stephensen slotted in first and second at the end of lap one, ahead of Papadakis, Geiser, and Marty Hart in the #15 Stronghold Motorsports/Maxxis Tires Ford. Lap two and three saw more shuffling, with Hart moving right up to second, Jacob Person into fourth in the #92 Stand-Up-MRI of Arizona/BFGoodrich Tires Ford, and Brian Deegan into fifth in the #38 Rockstar Energy/Etnies Ford. Person then got around Stephensen, and at the competition yellow, Brandt still led in the #82 mavTV/Lucas Oil Toyota, followed closely by Hart. Person sat in third, with Stephensen fourth and Deegan fifth. On the restart lap, Person rolled in turn one, while Deegan came to a stop on the outside of the turn. Both drivers were able to continue, but with Geiser also crashing out near turn three, a full-course yellow was brought out. Once action resumed, Brandt and Hart continued their battle for the lead, with Stephensen third, Adam Wik now fourth in the #11 Wik’s Racing Engines/King Off Road Racing Shocks Chevrolet, and Matt Loiodice now fifth in the #20 MasterCraft Safety/Competitive Metals Ford. Brandt and Hart were well clear up front, and although Hart was really putting the pressure on Brandt (he set the fast lap at a 1:11.469 on the penultimate lap), he couldn’t force Brandt into a mistake. Brandt came home the winner, followed by Hart, Stephensen in the #33 Yokohama Tires/Racin’ Dirty Nissan, Person, and Wik.

Pro 2 Unlimited
The final race of the day was certainly one of the best. Todd LeDuc in the #8 Rockstar Energy/Airforce Ford and Rodrigo Ampudia in the #36 Papas & Beer/Lucas Oil Ford started on the front row of the Pro 2 Unlimited race, and it was LeDuc who led Ampudia at the end of lap one. In third was Ricky Johnson in the #48 Traxxas/Red Bull Ford, followed by Rob MacCachren in the #21 Rockstar/MasterCraft Safety Ford, and Rob Naughton in the #54 Stronghold Motorsports/Maxxis Tires Ford. As Johnson, MacCachren, and Naughton all hounded Ampudia for second place, LeDuc was able to edge out a little bit of an advantage, but Ampudia soon found a little breathing room from those behind, and quickly closed down on LeDuc again. Soon after, Johnson closed back in on Ampudia, then passed him and took over second place. Further back, Carl Renezeder was on a charge in his #17 Lucas Oil/Team Associated Ford after being caught out by a crowded turn one. Renezeder passed Naughton for fifth, then got by MacCachren for fourth, where he sat behind LeDuc, Johnson, and Ampudia at the competition yellow, with MacCachren still fifth. On the restart lap, however, Renezeder again got into a swarm of trucks, and this time it went even worse. Renezeder endo’d his truck in the big rollers after turn three, thus ending his run. After his fire in Pro 4 Unlimited and now his first big crash in recent memory, this just wasn’t Renezeder’s day.

Renezeder’s accident was cleared without the need for a yellow flag, and soon afterwards, Johnson finally found his way around LeDuc to take the lead. His lead was short-lived, however, as he pulled off the track coming into turn one, leaving the race with unknown issues. LeDuc re-assumed the lead, with Ampudia now hot on his heels. Naughton was up to third, with Bryce Menzies now fourth in the #7 Bully Dog/Super Clean Ford, and MacCachren fifth as his battle-beaten truck seemed to be slowing a little bit. Ampudia put solid pressure on LeDuc, and he eventually found his way by and into the lead. Further back, MacCachren was now out, putting Greg Adler into fifth in his #10 4 Wheel Parts/Magnaflow Ford. From here on out the top five held their positions, and at race’s end it was Ampudia who took his first career Pro 2 Unlimited win, finally getting the monkey off his back after countless near-misses. Second went to LeDuc, third to Naughton, fourth to Menzies, and fifth to Adler. The always-quick Adler grabbed the fast lap with a 1:06.561.

With the sun still hi in the sky at racing’s end, there was plenty of time for the team’s to savor their victories and ponder their misfortunes. Of course there will be a whole second day of action here in Tooele, so be sure to get to here and see it for yourself. Also, be sure to stay tuned to lucasoiloffroad.com for all the latest LOORRS news.

Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Grill ‘N’ Thrill Kicks Off Weekend with a Bang

For the first time, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has made its way north to the beautiful confines of the Miller Motorsports Park here in Tooele, UT, just outside Salt Lake City. With snow-capped peaks lining both sides of the beautiful valley into which this outstanding facility is nestled, views between on-track action make this a unique and wonderful setting for a weekend of racing. This weekend marks Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2010 LOORRS championship season, and with Friday qualifying getting moved to Saturday morning this weekend, all eyes were on the Super Lite Grill ‘N’ Thrill Challenge Race, a ten-lap shootout for the Super Lite class which finished off a fine day of practice action and was a great introduction to off-road racing for the Utah fans.
Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg got the ball rolling, taking the early lead in his #88 Rockstar Energy/Metal Mulisha machine. Close behind came Ricky James in the #24 Rockwell truck, followed by Chad George, Dawson Kirchner, and CJ Greaves. In the early going, James was really dogging Stenberg for the lead, though Stenberg was able to hold his lines and maintain the lead. Behind these two, Kirchner moved his #16 Speed Technologies truck up to third. The top five drivers were clearly separating themselves from the rest of the pack, with Jacob Person having to weave through the slower trucks further back in an effort to make his way up to the leaders. Person moved his #29 Geiser Bros Design and Development machine up to sixth, and was now trying to bridge the gap across to the leading five trucks.
Within those top five, action was really heating up. George moved back up to third in his #42 Kawasaki-sponsored truck, with Greaves in tow in the #33 Traxxas machine. Both drivers got by Kirchner, who’d ducked into the hot pits and fallen well back. Further forward, James had finally found a way around Stenberg, and took the lead just ahead of the competition yellow. At this point, it was James out front, followed by Stenberg, George, Greaves, and Person.
When the green dropped again, Stenberg and Person both got great restarts, and the two slotted in first and third, split by James and followed by George and Greaves. The top two began to pull away a little bit, while further back, the #92 of Brandon Ward was putting some pressure of Greaves for his fifth spot. Late in the going, James’ machine began to slow, slightly at first, which allowed Person to catch him up, then much more severely, dropping well down the order. Person seized the chance to challenge for the lead, moving past James and into second with one lap to go. Person charged hard, and briefly took the lead with no more than half a lap to go. It wasn’t to be, however, as Person broke something in his rear suspension with just a few corners left, causing his truck to sway uncontrollably, and dropping him down to fourth. With Person well behind him, Stenberg cruised home to take a convincing win, followed by George, Greaves (who set the fastest lap at a 1:15.164 on the final lap), Person, and Ward.
Action will get underway bright and early tomorrow, with Modified Kart Qualifying beginning at 9:00 am. Racing kicks off at 1:00 pm with the Modified Kart main event, so be sure to make your way here to see the action at this top notch racetrack. If you can’t be here in person, and even if you can, stay tuned to lucasoiloffroad.com for all the latest LOORRS developments.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, with it’s high octane brand of short course off road mayhem is poised to make it’s debut at Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, Utah , June 26th and 27th . Loiodice, in this his second full year in the ProLite class, has had a strong start to the season in a class loaded with veteran talent. Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Heading to Miller Motorsports Park

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH — The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will be making its first Utah appearance at Miller Motorsports Park on June 26-27. This is a unique event that requires unique preparation, including the construction of an all-new short-course off-road track in the infield of the East Course of the main track.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is the evolution of the long-standing support of short-course racing by Forrest Lucas and Lucas Oil Products. Steeped in the Midwest tradition of short-course off-road racing infused with a West Coast influence, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing brings intense four-wheel door-to-door action to challenging, fan-friendly tracks.
The series includes 11 classes of vehicles, ranging from truck-bodied karts for drivers as young as eight years to ATVs, buggies and full-bodied trucks sporting as much as 800 hp. The action is frantic and ferocious, and the vehicles will have to deal with tabletops, rhythm sections, whoops and jumps in addition to each other in what is sure to be a major hit with Utah fans.
Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Director Tony Vanillo recently participated in an interview in which he discussed how the event came to be and what fans can expect to see:
How did Miller Motorsports Park come to be considered?
“I was introduced to the management of Miller Motorsports Park for consideration of their venue. After a tour of the facilities and meeting with them, the grounds seemed perfect for a short-course off-road race while offering state-of-the-art facilities and a fantastic infrastructure. Miller is a phenomenal facility. The facility has everything. From the paddock to the grandstands to the VIP facilities, everything is first-class.
This is the newest and most unique venue to feature short-course off-road racing and we anticipate a wonderful experience for sponsors, competitors and spectators. From this meeting, a fantastic relationship has been developed among the staff at MMP, their General Manager, John Larson, and Lucas Oil. This relationship has also extended to the title sponsorship of the recent World Superbike race at MMP.”
It looks like Miller Motorsports Park has a wide variety of racing on its schedule.
“MMP is truly a state-of-the-art, world-class road course that hosts national and international events including World Superbike, the American Le Mans Series and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series among others. Between their major events along with the SCCA Trans-Am, World Challenge and Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup, the NASA National Championships, their Mustang Challenge Series and club racing, there seems like there’s something going on there all the time. Then there’s the go-kart track and onsite driving and riding schools and an incredible vintage car museum with some of the rarest vehicles in the world. MMP really has something for everyone who loves racing. We are excited to be a part of it all.”
Is Lucas building the course from the ground up in partnership with the track ownership?
“Everything built for this short-course race and the event itself in every sense of the word is a partnership. We are building the track jointly with our expertise and combining resources to complete a very exciting 1.1-mile, purpose-built short-course off-road track. The track will feature all of the signature jumps, tabletops and excitement that have become the signature of our short-course off-road racing series.”
How many seats will there be on the course?
“There are eight grandstands at MMP, three of which we will have in use for our event.  Primary seating for the short-course track will be located adjacent to the track with grassy areas and fence-line viewing areas that can accommodate an additional 5,000 people. We will also be utilizing their beautiful indoor and outdoor VIP and hospitality facilities that can accommodate an additional 1,000 spectators. Although this is our first event at MMP, the enthusiasm for the event has been outstanding and there is a lot of buzz about the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series coming to the Salt Lake City area for the first time.”
Tickets for the the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series event at Miller Motorsports Park are priced at $30/day or $50/weekend for adults, and $10/day or $15/weekend for kids aged 4-12. They are available on the track’s website, at www.SmithTix.com or at the box offices of Miller Motorsports Park, EnergySolutions Arena or the Salt Lake Bees.

All-new Bobcat utility vehicles offer improved performance and productivity

(WEST FARGO, N.D. — June 2010) From inspecting fence on a farm or acreage to hauling tools and people around a construction site, efficiency is key to a productive job. The all-new line of Bobcat® utility vehicles is designed to deliver the power and performance needed to handle any job-related task with ease.

Every aspect of the new Bobcat utility vehicles has been designed to help customers get more work done in less time. Increased power, speed, payload capacity and uptime are all key features built into the all-new design. And like all Bobcat compact equipment, the utility vehicles are versatile jobsite machines that can reach areas where larger equipment can’t fit.

Four models available at launch

The new Bobcat line of utility vehicles launches with four models — the 3200, 3400, 3400XL and 3450. Features range from two-wheel drive to the four-wheel drive, attachment-ready 3450. Additional options and accessories are available to customize the new utility vehicles to fit each customer’s unique needs.

Power and performance to get the job done

Several improvements have been made to the new Bobcat utility vehicles, including performance enhancements such as more responsive acceleration, better payload capacities and increased horsepower and top speeds, and electronic fuel-injected gas 4x4 models that start easier and run more reliably in higher altitudes.

Increased payloads, acceleration and top speeds are the direct result of the new horsepower ratings in both the gas and diesel engines — ranging from 24.8 hp to 32 hp. This means customers can quickly haul tools, materials and people — up to six in the 3400XL with bench seating — across jobsites or other large areas such as athletic fields or farms. The quicker the tools and people get to the task at hand, the quicker the work is complete.

Operators can easily flip a switch to select from one-wheel (Turf Mode), two-wheel or four-wheel drive on the Bobcat 4x4 models to best match the driving conditions. When the front wheels are engaged in the 4x4 mode, all four wheels receive torque for maximum traction.

Operator comfort and ease of use

Operators and passengers will ride in comfort as the four-wheel independent suspension provides a smooth ride and improves the Bobcat utility vehicle’s agility over rough terrain. Other comfort features include lower sound levels, two-passenger bucket seating (dealer-installed bench seat also available) and a dealer-installed cab and heat for working in cold or windy climates.

These features and others, such as easy-to-see instrumentation, a single-latch tailgate and easy-to-clean cargo box, make Bobcat utility vehicles intuitive to use. With ease-of-use and superior comfort, operators will be able to get more work done quickly — whether they are monitoring livestock or clearing snow.

Uptime and easy maintenance to keep working

If a vehicle isn’t running, it isn’t working. Bobcat utility vehicles feature durable components and protective parts for maximum uptime and easy upkeep, including the sealed continuously variable transmission (CVT) guard, full skid plate, front and rear constant velocity CV boot shields and a radiator guard. The vehicles also feature a composite cargo box that resists corrosion, unlike steel or aluminum. Day-to-day maintenance checks are easy to perform with quick access to the engine compartment, air filter and battery.

Liquid-cooled engines in Bobcat utility vehicles protect critical engine components from overheating, which also results in more power and performance from the machine because components are kept cooler at higher engine speeds.

Attachment readiness and maximum versatility

To meet jobsite needs, the 3450 can use up to five front-mounted attachments with the exclusive RapidLink™ attachment mounting system. Choose from a bucket, pallet fork, mower, snow blade or Whisker push broom to do anything from clearing sidewalks of snow and debris to moving dirt or palleted materials. Maximum lift height is 2 feet and rated operating capacity is 500 pounds.

Other options are available to match the utility vehicle to specific task-related demands, such as an optional brush guard, powered cargo box lift, strobe lights, turn signals and backup alarms. The integrated accessory system is designed into the cargo box allows a number of accessories to quickly and easily be mounted to the vehicle. The accessories include a tool holder, cargo box divider, cargo box wall extensions, as well as a number of other task-related accessories. Hunting enthusiasts can choose a limited edition package, including a brush guard, powered cargo box lift, black rims, green color scheme, and gun scabbard mount with dual gun boots.

Bobcat utility vehicles a match for all tasks

The new family of Bobcat utility vehicles is a great match for farmers and homeowners with acreage, construction and landscape contractors, and facility and maintenance professionals of all types.

Tackling chores on the farm or acreage

Large areas of land mean time spent traveling from one chore or task to the next. With top speeds up to 30 mph, the new Bobcat utility vehicles can make quick work of getting the necessary people and proper tools to each task, and allowing farmers and acreage owners to get more accomplished in the course of a day. Features such as four-wheel independent suspension or dealer-installed cabs mean operators will be able to complete long days of work in comfort. So whether it’s inspecting and repairing fence, monitoring cattle, clearing snow or maintaining a driveway, Bobcat utility vehicles can tackle the task.

For nursery and grounds maintenance crews

Even the smallest tasks require the right people and tools to get accomplished. The all-new Bobcat utility vehicles make moving around a large facility or nursery possible, with room for up to six people in the 3400XL with optional bench seating. The cargo box and towing capabilities mean crews will never be without the necessary tools to get their work done. From planting, moving and maintaining trees and plants, to clearing away snow, leaves and debris, Bobcat utility vehicles give crews the versatility needed to quickly accomplish each task and move on to the next to keep facilities operating smoothly and looking great.

Hauling tools/supplies on the construction or landscape site

A jobsite full of equipment and construction materials can be a tight fit, but the all-new Bobcat utility vehicles are compact enough to move with ease, all while carrying crew members, tools and materials. With a 1,600-pound or 1,850-pound vehicle rated capacity and a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, the utility vehicles can tow or haul the necessary items to complete a task, quickly moving on to the next. The 3450 has the ability to switch between five attachments to complete additional work and keep larger equipment focused on larger jobs. The ability to efficiently and quickly complete jobsite tasks means increased productivity and a better bottom line.

VORRA Sanctions the Xtreme Outlaws 250 Race on Father’s Day Weekend with $10,000 Purse

RENO, NV JUNE 16, 2010: Set your eyes on the deserts surrounding Reno, NV for the next race in the VORRA series this coming Father’s Day Weekend, June 18th – 20th, 2010. The Xtreme Outlaws 250 will start at the Grand Sierra Resort (GSR), run through the streets of Reno and Virginia City, and then far into the wild desert. Racers including John Harrah, Roger Norman, Chuck Dempsey, Sam Berri and Dave Cole are making final preparations for this weekends new Father’s Day tradition.

“This race is setting up to be an epic race in VORRA’s history. Rod Hall helped create an amazing course that is on fresh desert floor and is all new terrain to every single racer,“ states Wes Harbor, VORRA Director. And if the virgin course isn’t enough momentum for the drivers, the Xtreme Outlaw 250 will award this years over-all podium with $10,000 in cash and prizes, and a spectacular “Six-Shooters” trophy will be given to the “First Ever Winner” of what will become one of the top races to compete in year after year.

Thursday’s Pre-Run Fun Run will kick off the weekend events and give the drivers the one and only shot of getting on the course before race day. Drivers will take on the never before seen course with a stop in Virginia City for lunch. Wes Harbor believes that “this is a driver’s course, not a fast course. This race will be won in the helmet as they battle to overcome every obstacle.”

Friday’s Pro Class Qualifying is a first for a VORRA race. They have designed a 4 mile loop that drivers will compete for the fastest time for positioning in the starting grid. Racers who opt out of qualifying will start with their class farther back in the pack. After qualifying, racers will be at Tech and Contingency in the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot. Vendor row will be set up on the grounds and spectators are encouraged to come out and meet the drivers and see the vehicles.

Saturday’s race will start at the Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) with the Extreme Outlaw Leap, parade down Interstate 80 and then go into the desert for three 90-mile loops. “This is a very spectator friendly race, there is easy access to the main pit area which will be situated nine miles east of Sparks at the new massive Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center,” explains Don Gilman of Off Road Innovations (ORI) of Reno. “The southern pit area will also be convenient and fan-friendly, located at historic Virginia City’s Silverland Hotel, where the cars will actually race down the streets one block off Main Street!” There will also be plenty of spectator viewing on USA Parkway off Highway 80. Top competitors are expected to finish the race in around 5 hours, with an overall limit of 10 hours of racing.

VORRA is in its 35th year of producing high quality yet affordable racing while also creating fun events around the race making it a great place to have friends and family enjoy Father’s Day Weekend spectating or competing.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the third member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2010: BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC) founder Clark Collins. Collins, known for his tireless work on behalf of motorcyclists to keep trails open and build regional
and national coalitions among all trail users, will be among the legends of motorcycling honored at the 2010 induction ceremony at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas on Nov. 19.
"Clark Collins represents an area that is so vitally important to all riders -- motorcyclists' rights -- and he is a fitting inductee into the Hall of Fame," said Jack Penton, AMA director of operations and a Hall of Famer himself. "Collins' advocacy work is the reason why so many trails remain open today, and why motorcyclists across the country are better organized to protect the future of motorcycling."

In 1987, Collins created the BRC, which is a national non-profit organization dedicated to protecting responsible recreational access to public lands and waters. He served as executive director of the organization until his retirement in 2004.

Collins formed the BRC after he was told by then Idaho Governor John Evans that recreationists were not politically significant, and implied that federal Wilderness was more important than responsible recreational access to public lands. In the years since, Clark and the BRC have come to be nationally recognized by public land agencies as authorities on responsible motorized recreation.

Today, Collins continues to serve the off-road recreation community in Idaho as president of the Idaho State ATV Association. "Clark is a testament to one person's belief in a cause truly making a difference," says the Motorcycle Industry Council's Kathy Van Kleeck, who is also chairwoman of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Leadership/Rights Committee. "Clark grew the BlueRibbon Coalition from a germ of an idea
into the nation's largest coalition of off-road access advocates, recognized across the country as an outspoken grassroots voice on behalf of off-highway vehicle recreation.

His ability to organize motorized vehicle enthusiasts gave voice to a new movement of political activism, and made OHV riders politically significant." Collins said he's humbled to be inducted into the AMA
Motorcycle Hall of Fame. "I was really excited last year for Mona Ehnes being inducted as a rights representative, and I'm amazed to be inducted," he said. "Looking at all the people in the Hall of Fame, I feel really honored to be on that list. A lot of the Hall of Famers got in for their skill in going fast on motorcycles, and I'm excited to see that folks like Mona and me, who have been involved in the advocacy role, get recognized as well. We're not used to getting trophies, and we don't get to stand up and be recognized for going fast, so this is really great."

Collins joins previously announced members of the AMA Hall of Fame Class of 2010: championship team owner Mitch Payton and AMA 250cc Roadrace Champion David Emde. More inductees will be announced soon.

The Class of 2010 will officially be inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame on Nov. 19 as part of the AMA Legends & Champions Weekend. In addition to the induction ceremony, the weekend includes the 2010 AMA Concours d'Elegance on Saturday, Nov. 20, featuring some of the country's most impressive original and restored classic motorcycles. The AMA Racing Championship Banquet closes out the weekend on Sunday, Nov. 21, where AMA Racing amateur champions of all ages will be recognized for their 2010
accomplishments.

The event will be held at the Las Vegas Red Rock Resort, a world-class spa, hotel and casino, featuring a range of entertainment, dining and family-friendly attractions. The facility's expansive ballrooms will
provide a stunning backdrop for the AMA Legends & Champions Weekend, which is certain to be memorable for the 2010 inductees, champions, families, friends and fans. More information is available online at RedRockLasVegas.com.

Lodging reservations can be made now at AmericanMotorcyclist.com/Accommodations.
An announcement regarding ticket information will be made in mid-June.
Located on the park-like campus of the AMA in Pickerington, Ohio, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made lasting contributions to protecting and promoting the motorcycle lifestyle. Its members include those who have excelled in racing, road- and off-road riding, pushed
the envelope in motorcycle design, engineering and safety, and championed the rights of riders in both the halls of government and the court of public opinion.

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Committee includes nine members in addition to the chairman. There are eight committees, each representing a different aspect of motorcycling.

Jon Eide Named New National Sales Manager of Scorpion Sports

(Lake Forest, CA June 11, 2010) Former West Coast Sales Manager Jon Eide becomes Scorpion Sports’ new National Sales Manager, effective immediately. A die-hard enthusiast, Eide has been a part of Scorpion’s sales management team since 2004, when he moved from Eugene, Oregon, to an inside phone sales position developing new dealers for the start-up helmet and apparel brand.
“Jon has been here since the beginning and witnessed the growth of the brand,” says Scorpion Sports’ President Rick Miller. “His background at the dealership level and the exceptional job he has done to build the brand is certainly important, but it is his passion for the industry and the fact that he rides motorcycles that really clinched the deal!”
“I got my first motorcycle when I was 7 years old,” exclaims Eide. “Best Christmas present ever!” Before moving to California to work for Scorpion, Eide served on the dealership front lines as a parts and accessories guy at Cycle Sports of Eugene, a 17,000 sq./ft. Honda/Kawasaki/SeaDoo store. “I learned a ton from working closely with the owner, GM, parts manager and sales reps, which I still use on the job every day,” explains Eide.
Jon was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the West Coast in 2005, a territory that included dealers in nine states. Most recently, that territory had expanded to 13 states under Jon's leadership, before becoming the National Sales Manager. “I love working in this industry and I don’t think that you will find a more passionate group of people anywhere!”
