Polaris introduced the RANGER RZR 170 in 2009 and for 2011, they have added a Big Wheel Kit as an option for T-14+ riders.
Big Wheel Kit adds aluminum wheels, larger tires, different drive and driven sprockets plus O-ring chain, skid plate, warning decals and increased ground clearance to 7.5 in/19.1 cm.
For youth riders 12 and up, the youth RANGER RZR 170 has a four-stroke, air-cooled, 169cc engine with electric start and an automatic transmission. Styled similar to its adult counterpart, the side-by-side has a sporty, aggressive look and holds a driver and passenger for double the fun.
Along with being an ultra-cool ride for kids, the youth RANGER RZR 170 includes all the safety features found on Polaris’ youth line up and more; a removable ignition key, electronic throttle safety control, daytime running lights, side nets, full cab frame, 3 point seat belts, color coded foot controls, parking brake, hydraulic disc brakes, and speed controls to enable adults to set a maximum speed control limit.
All Polaris Youth ATVs purchased from an authorized dealer come with a high-visibility whip flag, speed limiter and safety video. Accompanied with the Youth models is a DOT-approved helmet (2 helmets for the Ranger RZR 170) to teach kids the importance to wearing the proper safety gear.

Arctic Cat Reports Fiscal 2011 First Quarter Results
MINNEAPOLIS, Jul 29, 2010 -- Arctic Cat Inc. today reported that its net loss narrowed to $4.5 million, or $0.25 per diluted share, on net sales of $63.4 million for the fiscal 2011 first quarter ended June 30, 2010. In the prior-year first quarter of fiscal 2010, Arctic Cat reported a net loss of $5.9 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, on net sales of $69.4 million. The company historically reports a net loss in its fiscal first quarter, due to the seasonal nature of its products, with the majority of its sales and earnings occurring in its fiscal second and third quarters.
Commenting on the first quarter results, Arctic Cat's chairman and chief executive officer Christopher A. Twomey said: "We are pleased with the company's improved results. Overall, we have made remarkable strides given that the powersports sector has yet to recover from the economic recession. During the quarter, we achieved higher gross margins on lower sales volumes and further strengthened our balance sheet. We made additional progress on our strategy to closely match wholesale and retail sales, in order to reduce dealer inventories and align them with current consumer demand in our markets. We gained ATV market share by offering innovative world-class products. We also continued to aggressively work on lowering our cost structure."
Among the highlights of Arctic Cat's 2011 first quarter financial results versus the same quarter last year:
-- North American dealer inventories declined 23 percent;
-- Gained ATV market share;
-- Gross margins improved 610 basis points;
-- Factory inventory declined 31 percent to $88.1 million from $127.1 million;
-- Total cash and short-term investments at quarter end rose to $58.6 million from $7.9 million; and
-- The company has no short or long-term debt.
Business Line Results
All-terrain vehicle (ATV) sales totaled $27.8 million in the first quarter versus $32.2 million in the same period last year. Arctic Cat continued to match wholesale sales with actual retail demand in order to further reduce dealer inventories. At the same time, the company pursued its strategy to introduce new models and features in the ATV segments with the greatest consumer demand.
In the first quarter, Arctic Cat introduced two side-by-side Prowler utility vehicles for the 2011 model year: the Prowler HDX and the Prowler 550 XT. The three-passenger Prowler HDX is designed to be a heavy-duty utility workhorse. Its versatile rear cargo box hauls up to 1,000 lbs. and offers removable sides to create a convenient flatbed. In addition, power steering and an extra long wheelbase give it a smooth, comfortable ride. For the newly introduced Prowler 550 XT, Arctic Cat offers a sporty new look. Arctic Cat also extended its critically acclaimed electric power steering package, among other feature enhancements, to additional ATV models, including Arctic Cat's two-rider TRVs.
Snowmobile sales totaled $17.1 million in the first quarter compared to $17.9 million in the prior-year quarter. During the quarter, Arctic Cat announced that it entered into an agreement to transition its snowmobile engine manufacturing from Suzuki Motor Corporation. Arctic Cat will begin manufacturing some of its own snowmobile engines at its engine manufacturing facility in St. Cloud, Minn., after the 2014 model year. Currently, Suzuki supplies all engines for Arctic Cat's snowmobiles.
In making the announcement, Twomey noted: "Suzuki has been an outstanding engine supply partner for more than 25 years and remains a significant shareholder in Arctic Cat. However, we are changing our engine strategy in order to gain more control over our products, and enhance our ability to meet regulatory and performance requirements. This also will enable us to better utilize our current engine manufacturing capacity, which should result in lower costs."
Sales of parts, garments and accessories (PG&A) in the first quarter were $18.5 million versus $19.3 million in the prior-year quarter. To help fuel PG&A sales in fiscal 2011, Arctic Cat is continuing to expand its new accessories and garment offerings to generate additional revenue and earnings.
Outlook
"Through a rescaled business and strong expense controls, we are on track to deliver improved operating results and increased profitability again this fiscal year," Twomey said.
Arctic Cat is focused on leveraging its operational efficiency and improving its profitability in a continued low-demand recreational vehicle market. The company's fiscal 2011 outlook includes the following assumptions: ATV industry retail sales declining approximately 10 to 12 percent; snowmobile industry retail sales in a range of up or down approximately 5 percent; Arctic Cat dealer inventories declining 20 to 30 percent; increasing gross margins between 100 to 200 basis points; achieving flat operating expense levels as a percent of sales; increasing cash flow from operations; and ending the year with more cash on the balance sheet.
Arctic Cat continues to estimate sales for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2011, in the range of $447 million to $460 million. The company anticipates that fiscal 2011 earnings will be in the range of $0.18 to $0.33 per diluted share.
Commented Twomey: "Arctic Cat remains positioned for long-term growth when the retail powersports market recovers."

VORRA Fallon 250 Night Race Chases $10,000 Overall Purse, Jack Rabbits and Dark Desert Shadows
RENO,NV July 28, 2010: It was over 100 during the day, but it was a gorgeous 80 under the half moon that set around midnight on Saturday night July 17th. The winner, Sam Berri, was the only one to finish on Saturday just before midnight, reinforcing Wes Harbors original prediction that if you finished on Saturday you probably won the race.
There were over 40 cars, trucks, UTV’s and ATV’s at the race which consisted of a 41 mile loop that pro drivers had to complete 6 times to get their total 250 miles within the allotted 8 hours. “This is one of the more fun races of the year, not because the track is extremely difficult, but because of the atmosphere and challenge of the night,” said Wes Harbor VORRA’s director.
Light choices spanned from multiple high dollar extreme light bars to single bulb lights that tested the drivers eyes and the vehicles alternator to keep them running all night. Car and truck drivers had about 1 full lap in daylight and the remaining 5 in the setting suns shadows and the dark desert night.
Sam Berri was the first to cross the finish line, but only after quite a race with Shannon Harwell in Class 1. Berri didn’t have any communication with the main pit to know where he stood during the race, instead he maintained consistency and was finally able to pass Harwell for the win. Mike Koenig grabbed his first win of the season in Class T, beating Chris Gray by a nine-minute gap and placing third overall behind the Class 1’s. Third across the finish line and fourth on time was Class 10 competitor Kenny Ott. Ott retuned to defend his 2009 Class 10 win in this race and did so with his closest competitor, Red Team Racing, 45 minutes behind. The Class 10, 4-race winning streak of Patrick Timmons was broken with a DNF. The spectacular race was in the Ultra4 class where after 250 miles, and five and a half hours on the course, Brad Falin took the win over the Trent Fab car driven by Chris Ridgway by a mere 34 seconds. The three Class 11 cars showed up with Gary Herrod taking first, and Bill Jarvis took the win in Class 8. The strong Sportsman class had 9 competitors where Terry Shelton took another win with an 8-minute gap to competitor Tim Stockwell. Jon Crowley took his first desert win in the UTV class, closing in the class point on Dennis Jean who placed third. Earlier in the day, Brad Falin won the Pro Quad class and Steven Daniels won the Amateur Quad class.
The close of the Fallon 250 leaves one more desert race and two short course races before the end of the season. The season points battle continues to be close and will be all the way to the end. With the Class T win, Mike Koenig sits in first place with 379 points. Class 1 driver Sam Berri is one point behind, then Brad Falin in the Ultra4 class is in third at 357 points. Previous leader Patrick Timmons finished 6th in Class 10 at the Fallon 250 which dropped him to 4th place with 347 points.
Special thanks to the hospitality of the Stockman’s Casino for the excellent awards breakfast buffet and the prizes donated to the “Out of the Money” raffle which is an opportunity given to all of the competitors that didn’t place in the top 3 positions. They also sponsored the $1,000 purse bonus that paid the top 3 over-all racers a little extra for their efforts.
The next race is the Hawthorne 225 in Hawthorne, NV Labor Day weekend September 4-6, 2010. VORRA is in its 35th year of producing high quality yet affordable racing while also creating fun events around the race making it a great place to have friends and family enjoy the summer spectating or competing.

New Bolt on UTV Traction System from J Wheelz
BROOKINGS, South Dakota—Creative Solutions, LLC, has announced the launch of J-wheelz (www.j-wheelz.com), a bolt on wheel attachment for ATV’s, UTV’s and 6-Wheel Vehicles. Through a simple two bolt application, J-wheelz extend the width of the tire providing increased surface area and traction in loose terrain, while remaining free of firm terrain, thus maintaining full steering and speed capabilities of the machine and avoiding unnecessary wear on the product and your machine.
Unveiled this February at the industry’s Indy Dealer Expo, J-wheelz offer a patent pending design and a unique material selection which helped earn it a spot in the Top 25 New Products of the Year.
J-wheelz are made of a polyethylene copolymer, similar to plastics used in automotive bumpers. Additionally, a closed-cell marine grade foam serves to add flotation to the product. Why these materials? “Creative Solutions, LLC set out to rethink everything, from the shape of the wheel to the materials selected”, states Jake Mills, Co-Inventor of J-wheelz. “With current technology in plastics it made sense to incorporate that into J-wheelz. It keeps the product extremely light yet ensures they are extremely durable. Plus, because of the design and materials, life expectancy will be extended over traditional aftermarket attachments”, states Mills. A universal application allows J-wheelz to fit most ATVs, UTVs and 6-Wheel vehicles. J-wheelz is the first innovative product being introduced by Creative Solutions, LLC.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., Statement on Holt vs Yamaha
CYPRESS, Calif. – July 27, 2010 – The jury’s decision in Orange County, California, to reject the plaintiff’s claims and award no damages in this case is appropriate. The jury made a decision based on the facts. The testimony and evidence during the trial showed that this unfortunate incident had nothing to do with the design of the product.
Yamaha is saddened whenever anyone is injured in an accident involving a Yamaha product. This incident underscores the importance of following the safety guidelines posted on the Rhino and in the owner's manual, and to always operate the products in a safe and responsible manner. Drivers and passengers should wear helmets, protective gear including over-the-ankle foot wear, and the vehicle’s three-point seat belts at all times, and never drive a Rhino when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Rhino is a safe and useful off-road vehicle that has won virtually every “first in class” award and top safety ratings in independent reviews since its introduction.
"Yamaha stands firmly behind the Rhino and will continue to vigorously defend the product. To learn more about the Yamaha Rhino, visit our website www.truthaboutrhino.com", Van Holmes, Public Relations Manager, ATV & SxS Department, Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.

2011 Polaris RANGER 500 Crew
The new RANGER 500 EFI, shares the same mid-size, two-seat chassis as the RANGER 400, with the addition of a 498cc EFI engine and full instrumentation, providing consumers two midsize, gas models to choose from for model year 2011.
The 500 EFI engine provides 32 horsepower giving the unit a top speed of 44 mph/70.8 kph and benefits of easy, choke-free starting and automatic altitude compensation due to its electronic fuel injection. Although its smaller stature allows it to fit in the back of a pickup truck, the midsize RANGER still boasts the hardest working, smoothest riding features of its full-size counterparts: On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive with VersaTrac, Independent Rear Suspension, heavy duty front end protection, high ground clearance and the longest suspension travel in the mid-size class.
The RANGER 500 EFI has a 500 lb./22.68 kg. Lock & Ride® cargo box with a gas-assist dumping operation, 1,250 lb./567 kg towing and 1,000 lb./453.6 kg. total payload making hauling hunting gear or working on the farm easier. Along with electronic fuel injection, the RANGER 500 EFI differs from the RANGER 400 due to its standard instrument cluster that includes an odometer, fuel level indicator, and speedometer.
With the addition to the RANGER 500 EFI to Polaris’ midsize Side-by-Side offering, Polaris also is entering the value-priced, multi-passenger vehicle segment with the new RANGER CREW 500. With all the same hardest working, smoothest riding features as the RANGER 500 EFI, the RANGER CREW 500 provides room for four people with plenty of room to spare. The vehicle features the best room and easy cab slide-through so four adults can get in and out easily.

Introducing the 2011 Polaris RANGER Diesel
For 2011 Polaris also is entering the diesel Side-by-Side segment, with the introduction of the new RANGER Diesel. The RANGER Diesel shares the same full-size chassis as the RANGER XP 800 EFI with the same attributes that made the RANGER line the hardest working, smoothest riding vehicles on the market.
At the heart of the unit is a 904cc, three-cylinder diesel engine which is rubber mounted to transfer minimal vibration to the operator and provides a top speed of 35 mph/56.3 kph. The Diesel powertrain also provides better fuel economy over gas vehicles resulting in less time at the pump and more time working the fields. The RANGER Diesel also boasts the biggest fuel tank in its class so it can work harder longer. The fully-sealed, fixed center distance clutch driveline keeps water out of the clutches and provides better performance than competitive models. RANGER Diesel’s work ethic also includes a 55 amp alternator that gives the operator the ability to run many hard working, higher electrical load accessories, such as plows, extra lights, cab heaters and fans at the same time. It boasts one ton towing, 1500 lbs/ 680.4 kg of total payload and can seat three adults.

The 2008 model year saw the introduction of the RANGER RZR 800, the first Sport Side-by-Side with razor-sharp performance. With its 50-inch, trail-capable width, fastest acceleration, patented design that put the engine behind the seat for the lowest center of gravity and agile handling, the RANGER RZR 800 changed the entire Side-by-Side category.
For 2009, Polaris introduced the pure-sport RANGER RZR S 800 that offered an 800 H.O. engine for more speed and power, and a premium long-travel suspension for the dunes, desert and wide-open spaces.

“Model Year 2011 continues the undisputed leadership with improvements across the RANGER RZR line,” said Matt Homan, president and general manager of Polaris’ Off-Road division. “Polaris was the first manufacturer to offer Side-by-Sides that offered razor-sharp performance and we will continue to innovate and lead the category.”
For 2011, The RANGER RZR family receives aggressive front-end styling that increases cooling airflow area by 29 percent, new side protection for easier ingress and egress, a new in-cab accessible glove box, High/Low headlights for increased night visibility, and a new fuel management system coupled with a new tank that offers 30 percent improvement in range with better slow speed drive-ability. Quality improvements include better clutch/belt cooling, improved front and rear drive durability and sealed dash switches. The units also will feature new easier-to-use side nets.
The RANGER RZR 800 will offer more razor sharp trail performance with six percent more power in 2011 with the addition of an 800 H.O. engine giving the RANGER RZR 800 55hp and quicker acceleration corner-to-corner. For 2009, Polaris introduced the pure-sport RANGER RZR S 800 that offered an 800 H.O. engine for more speed and power, and a premium long-travel suspension for the dunes, desert and wide-open spaces.
Model year 2010 saw the first Robby Gordon Edition RANGER RZR 4 800, the world’s only four-seat sport Side-by-Side that offered Razor Sharp Performance for 4.
Built for the trail, the RANGER RZR 800 also will include new trail-friendly rear rack extenders to make it easier and more convenient to carry more gear. For hunters, Polaris also will offer the vehicle in the new Polaris Pursuit Camouflage pattern.
For 2011, the RANGER RZR S 800 will continue to offer all the razor-sharp performance features off-road enthusiasts have come to love: long-travel suspension, the fastest acceleration with a 63 mph/101.4 kph top speed, superior ergonomics and On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive for ultimate traction.
Along with the full-line improvements, the RANGER RZR S 800 also will receive new ITP 900 XCT tires, big bore shocks and will be available in two premium painted editions along with a standard edition, which will receive a new lower price.
The RANGER RZR S 800 is the first vehicle to feature the ITP 900 XCT brand tires as standard equipment. ITP is the No. 1 aftermarket tire and wheel brand that is well-respected in the industry. The new tires were built for high-performance, cross country trail riding, and feature a knobby, aggressive tread pattern for even more impressive cornering ability. They’re perfect for rough, rocky desert terrain where the RANGER RZR S 800 thrives. Coupled with the new Sachs shocks that have a 2-inch bore providing greater cooling capacity and improved fade resistance for a smoother, more agile ride, the 2011 RANGER RZR S 800 will continue to be the choice of performance-minded, off-road enthusiasts.
Introduced last model year, the RANGER RZR 4 800 was the first multi-passenger sport Side-by-Side and the industry’s only four-seat, high performance machine.
For 2011, the RANGER RZR 4 800 will be available in two Robby Gordon packages, a painted black and red edition and a power steering version that includes Robby Gordon-inspired graphics.
Polaris also will offer the following Limited Editions: RANGER RZR 800 EPS Orange Madness, RANGER RZR 800 Indy Red/White, RANGER RZR 800 Sonic Blue/White, RANGER RZR S 800 Gloss Black Carbon Fiber/Orange Madness and RANGER RZR S 800 Gloss Black Carbon/Indy Red.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Crowley Takes Fallon 250 Victory
Irvine, Calif.– Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jon Crowley drove his Kawasaki Teryx to victory at the fifth round of the Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) series in Fallon, Nev. Although the race was held at night, the drivers faced extremely hot conditions, leaving the Teryx to show off its durability. With one win under his belt, Crowley took over the lead and ended the race over 40 minutes ahead of second place.
Hot Hot Heat
With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees when the green flag flew at 6:30 p.m., Crowley knew it was going test the machine and his endurance.
"The key to our win at the Fallon night race was the power and reliability of our Muzzys built 840cc Teryx v-twin engine," said Crowley. "We were first off the line, and steadily increased our lead for five laps."
One For The Desert
After winning a race already this year on the short course, Crowley had yet to conquer the desert format coming into the race in Nevada.
"This is my first season racing the full VORRA series, and after a win in the short course earlier in the year, we have had a tough time in the desert," said Crowley. "I feel with this win, I got the monkey is off my back and I am looking forward to the next few races."
Final Desert Race
The next race in the VORRA series is the final desert race before the series returns to its short course format. With Crowley winning one of each format, he is prepared to put his Kawasaki Teryx back on the top of the podium now that he has conquered each respective race type.
“Unlike some other teams that run one machine for the desert and another for short course, I am running my Kawasaki Teryx for both,” said Crowley.

About VORRA:
Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) was established in 1975 as a family-oriented organization and is led by current promoter Wes Harbor who believes that “off road racing has its roots in people’s garages”. VORRA is the only organization to offer both four short course races and four desert races as part of its overall season championship. Each race draws over 60 racers between multiple classes available for Cars, Trucks, Pilots, ATV, UTV and Trophy Karts. In 2010 VORRA has added two additional truck classes and a stand alone ATV Race Series. More information can be found at www.vorra.net

Veteran Outdoors Raffles Customized Polaris Ranger
July 14, 2010 (Georgetown, TX) - Veteran Outdoors, in an effort to raise funds for their non-profit organization, began selling tickets to a raffle drawing for a Polaris Ranger CREW. The raffle will conclude during a public drawing to be held in January at a location to be determined.
Prices are ten dollars for a single chance, $35 for five and $50 for ten. Tickets for the raffle will be sold at upcoming trade shows and are available for purchase online at www.veteranoutdoors.com. All proceeds from the selling of raffle tickets benefits the wounded veterans taken on the hunting and fishing adventures Veteran Outdoors provides.
“We appreciate everyone who has donated to our mission in the past,” said Cody Hirt, host of the Veteran Outdoors television show, “this Polaris is going to make a deserving person very happy in January.”
Hirt said a large percentage of the funds driving the non-profit organization are generated from events, such as the raffle and benefit auctions held around the state.
“We know how important it is to make sure our wounded veterans know that their sacrifice is appreciated and their sacrifice hasn’t gone unnoticed,” Hirt said. “We want to do all we can.”
With the help from fabrication specialists, Critter Gitters, League City, TX, the UTV has been outfitted with a Custom Color Extreme Liner and a heavy-duty roof. Danek Iron Works, Jarrell, TX, has also contributed to the UTV by adding a hand-made, powder-coated high seat with an adjustable shooting bar.
Polaris Industries was established as the official UTV of Veteran Outdoors, for season two. In doing so, they also supplied Veteran Outdoors with two Polaris Ranger CREWs utilized during the filming of episodes for season two.
For more information about Veteran Outdoors or to purchase raffle tickets contact Joseph Esparza, or visit the website at www.veteranoutdoors.com.
Veteran Outdoors is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor our country’s wounded veterans’ patriotism and their sacrifice by providing quality hunting, fishing and outdoor related activities. VO’s goal is to raise public awareness about the therapeutic effects that being in the outdoors actually has on the mental and physical disabilities of our country’s wounded men and women. We will also provide a platform for veterans to tell their own stories in their own words.

Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association Launches Interactive E-Course for ROV Safety
Two-hour Course Emphasizes Safety-Minded Approach to Off-Highway Recreation
UTVGuide.net Blog
The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association, sponsored by Arctic Cat, BRP, Polaris and Yamaha, announces the release of the beta version of its new ROV E-Course - a free, interactive online safety course available on its website, rohva.org. The new E-Course is the first formalized educational resource for the growing community of ROV enthusiasts to reinforce driver responsibilities, identifying:
- Key risk factors associated with ROV operation
- Safe riding practices designed to reduce risk of injury
- The best resources for learning to operate particular vehicle models
Recreational Off-highway Vehicles (ROVs) are designed to travel on four or more non-highway tires, with a steering wheel, non-straddle seating, seat belts, occupant-protective structure, and an engine displacement up to 1,000cc. Sometimes referred to as side-by-sides or utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), current ROV models are designed with seats for a driver and one or more passengers and are used for a variety of outdoor recreational purposes as well as many work applications.
“ROHVA’s E-Course is an excellent resource for both new and experienced ROV drivers to learn how to safely operate their vehicles while enjoying the freedom of adventure they provide,” said Paul Vitrano, executive vice president of the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association. “The E-Course is intended to improve awareness about ROVs and inspire a safety-minded approach to off-highway recreation.”
The two-hour on-line safety course helps develop safe driving habits but is not a “learn to drive” course. Users can save their progress and stop at any time to pick up later where they left off. At the end of the course users have the option to take an ROV safety quiz to test their knowledge. To register for free, drivers can visit cbt.rohva.org.
ROVs operate similarly to on-highway cars and trucks but there are special considerations when operating in an off-highway environment. The ROV E-Course provides drivers a new resource to reinforce proper techniques and safety rules. Following such rules are essential, as a recent study of ROV crashes revealed at least one behavior warned against in manufacturer operator manuals was present in 98 percent of crashes. These warned-against behaviors include doing stunts, riding at excessive speeds, riding on paved roads, using alcohol or drugs while driving, improper seating of passengers, failing to wear a helmet and failing to wear a seat belt.
The study also found that 23 percent of crashes involved drivers under the recommended age. ROHVA recommends that no one under the age of 16 should operate an ROV without a valid driver’s license. The ROV E-Course is not intended for children.
As highlighted in the E-Course, ROHVA urges enthusiasts to follow the ROV Safety Rules to ensure the safety of drivers, passengers and everyone else.
- Always wear a helmet and other protective gear, use the seat belts, and keep all parts of your body inside the ROV.
- Never drive on paved roads except to cross when done safely and permitted by law. ROVs are designed to be operated off-highway.
- Drive only in designated areas, at a safe speed, and use care when turning and crossing slopes.
- Never drive under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
- Never drive an ROV unless you’re 16 or older or have a driver’s license. ROVs are not toys.
- Never carry more passengers than the ROV is designed for, and never allow a passenger who is too small to sit in a passenger seat to ride in the ROV.
- Read and follow the operator’s manual and warning labels.
The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association is a national industry organization that promotes the safe and responsible use of ROVs. ROHVA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop equipment, configuration and performance standards. Based in Irvine, Calif., the not-for-profit association is sponsored by Arctic Cat, BRP, Polaris and Yamaha. For more information visit www.rohva.org.

VORRA Fallon 250 Night Race Will Light Up The Nevada Desert
RENO,NV July 14, 2010: The fifth race of the 8 race series is this weekend in Fallon, NV. The desert heat of the day will be a minor issue as the night race falls under a half moon Saturday July 17th. The avid VORRA desert racers will take on the second half of the season where the overall points battle for the top 3 is within 6 points and every race to the end will matter.
The weekend will kick off at Stockman’s Casino where fans can see the vehicles and meet the drivers at tech and contingency on Friday night from 5pm to 9pm. On Saturday, the race takes a green flag at the Salt Wells gravel pit 15 minutes East of Fallon off Historic Highway 50.
“The Fallon 250 is the only night race held in the VORRA series, and is one we look forward to every year,” said Wes Harbor, VORRA Director. The course is a 41 mile loop that pro drivers must complete 6 times to finish within the allotted 8 hours. Quads will start at 2:30pm and should be clear of the course before the Classes 9, 11 and UTV’s start at 6pm, and the larger cars and trucks start at 7pm with the finish line closing at 3am. “If you finish this race on Saturday, you probably won the race,” laughed Harbor.
Car and truck drivers should have 2 full laps in daylight and the remaining 4 in the dark desert night. Drivers will be dependent on their pick of lights and will surely test their driving skills. The Nevada desert can be brutal in any race with the rocks and silt, but given the added challenge of half moon shadows and jack rabbits, this will be a blockbuster race for sure.
The class races are very close, and finishing one race well could knock off the current leaders. The battle for the Overall “Bragging Rights” will also be fought at every finish for the rest of the season. Patrick Timmons in Class 10 leads the points with 297, Sam Berri in Class 1 (defending his 2009 title) is not far behind at 293, and Mike Koenig in Group T is just 6 points off at 291. Ultra4 is 10 points back in its first season in the VORRA series, so anything could happen.
VORRA is in its 35th year of producing high quality yet affordable racing while also creating fun events around the race making it a great place to have friends and family enjoy a warm summer evening spectating or competing. The starting line grid is already shaping up with many of the VORRA family pre-registered. This race is a great opportunity to bring your desert racer, UTV or ATV out to race, be sure to pre-register today.
