In honor of the 30th year of Team Green, Kawasaki created a short film to showcase what the legacy of Team Green has meant to the racers of today. The film highlights Team Green riders Adam Cianciarulo, Stilez Robertson, Darian Sanayei, Destry Abbott, Justin Soule, and Chad George.
The film is now on iTunes and can be found by either typing in "grassroots, kawasaki" in the search bar or you can also click here for a direct link to the Kawasaki page of iTunes.

To celebrate the great accomplishments of the one-of-a-kind program, Kawasaki will premiere a short film during the Thursday night festivities at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's. Check out a sneak peek of the film today.

Funco Monster Energy Kawasaki's Chad George Wins at Speedworld
Irvine, Calif. (September 29, 2011) – Funco Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad George powered his Kawasaki Teryx® to the top of the podium in Round 11 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) at Speedworld Off Road Park in Surprise, Ariz., with an amazing pass at the last second. The following day in Round 12, George got a good start, but a mechanical issue forced him off the track and into fifth place. Teryx pilot Tyler Winbury put together a couple solid races to finish on the podium in second both days. Dragonfire Racing Kawasaki Teryx pilot Hans Waage drove consistently all weekend, scoring two third-place finishes, and rounded out the Kawasaki podium sweep on Saturday.

Back on the Box Gunning for his fifth-consecutive championship, George came to Speedworld determined to get on the box. On Saturday, he got a good start and was working toward the front, but a flat forced him to pit. After a quick tire change he got back on the track and started picking off competitors. On the final lap, George managed to inch past the leader right at the finish line to steal the win. On Sunday, he got off to another great start and was running near the front of the pack, but a mechanical issue left him in fifth. “This weekend our goal was to finish strong,” said George. “A big part of succeeding in this series is having the right equipment and mindset to finish these grueling races. On Saturday, I had a good start, but got a flat and had to pit. Our pit crew did a killer job and got me back on track fast. Once I got back on the track I moved to the front and passed the leader on the last corner of the last lap. I beat him by less than a tire at the finish. It was amazing. It felt great to take that win. On Sunday, I was sitting in second for the first couple laps. I knew I had the speed for first, but was pacing the pack and waiting for an opportunity to pass when a mechanical issue forced me off the track. I had a great weekend and want to dedicate it to my Grandma Geri, who had a medical emergency this weekend. She is my biggest supporter and comes to every race, so this was for her.” |
Young Gun Although Winbury is the youngest driver in the UTV unlimited class, his skills are on par with the most seasoned racers on the circuit. At Speedworld, he maintained a consistently-fast pace and navigated the blue-groove course with precision to finish in second during both rounds of the weekend. |
Local Talent While this was Waage’s first event of the 2011 LOORRS season, the Arizona local and desert-racing veteran put his Dragonfire Racing Kawasaki Teryx on the podium both days of the event. Better known for dominating the Baja 500 and 1000 races in 2009, Waage proved his skills as an off-road racer translate anywhere. At Speedworld, Waage successfully piloted his Teryx to third-place finishes both rounds of the event. |
Scorching Heat One of the biggest adversaries the racers faced over the course of the weekend was the scorching hot Arizona sun. By race time on Saturday, the temperatures were hovering around 108 degrees Fahrenheit. Racers did everything they could to keep themselves and their cars cool, but the heat proved too much for some racers to handle. “Dealing with the temperature was a huge challenge,” said George. “It would get over 130 degrees Fahrenheit in the car during the race. When you’re fighting the heat and exhaustion, it makes it really difficult to race. To prepare myself for that kind of heat I work out in the sun before the race and drink lots of fluids with electrolytes. Then I try to cool down as much as possible right before I climb into the cockpit. I train a lot for heat like this, so I feel like it actually gives me an advantage out there because I know the heat affected some of the other drivers much worse than me.” |
Weekend in Vegas In five weeks, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series continues to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nev., for Rounds 13 and 14. With only three rounds left in the series, George is more determined than ever to earn the wins he needs to advance to the top of the leaderboard. |

Best In The Desert Blue Water Desert Challenge October 14-16, 2011
The Blue Water Desert Challenge in Parker, AZ, October 14-16, hosted by the Blue Water Resort & Casino, is the fourth event in the five-race 2011 Best In The Desert “American Off-Road Racing Series”. Unlike all of the other Best In The Desert long distance races, that are either a long loop race, or a point to point course, as is the Parker “425” or the recent TSCO “Vegas to Reno” courses, the Blue Water Desert Challenge is a 2-day multi-race format that features Best In The Desert’s Car, Truck and UTV classes running both days for combined results to determine the winners.
This is the second year running of the Blue Water Desert Challenge. Last year saw more than 180 cars, trucks and UTVs for the inaugural event and has already become an exceptionally popular event with both racers and fans. As soon as the dust settled at the Vegas to Reno race, racers started telling each other, “I’ll see you in October in Parker.” The unique format still allows competitors to log in more than 150 miles of challenging desert racing over the course of two days. It also offers the racers to make adjustments and fine tune their vehicles for the second day of shoot-out style competition.
Two full days of non-stop racing on an exciting 26 mile long course that treats the racers to the likes of John Wayne’s Gorge, Marilyn’s Romp, The Matterhorn, The Sand Pile, Parker River Run, The New Thunder Alley and The Snake Pit. Casey Folks, director of Best in the Desert, said, “This course is a racer’s dream come true…an off-road racer’s Disneyland. It not only features the famous “Parker Python”, but also a wide selection of tough terrain that’s sure to please and challenge every team – every racer.”
Unlike other Best In The Desert races where the Trick Trucks and Class 1500 cars compete head-to-head for the coveted first starting position and $1000 “Team Ford” Pole award, they will have separate “time trials” for the two classes as they race in different heats. So for this race only, the sponsor of the Pole Award - Team Ford-Lincoln owner Steve Olliges stepped up to the plate and said, “Since the Trick Trucks and Unlimited 1500 vehicles have their own individual class time trials and their own races, I am pleased to pay out our $1,000 Pole Award to the TWO fastest classes – each class will have their own Pole Awards. Both winners of the time trials in their respective classes, which run on the Thursday before the race, will take home $1,000 each in cash, plus the beautiful “Team Ford” engraved Pole Award trophy to boast over with their friends and fellow competitors!”
The Blue Water Desert Challenge is held in the Town of Parker, AZ with the start/finish line just one mile from the Host Hotel, the beautiful Blue Water Resort & Casino, right along the beautiful Colorado River. It’s a great time to come to Parker; off-road race by day and play at the beautiful Blue Water Resort & Casino by night!
Best In The Desert official sponsors: Ford Motor Company – official truck, General Tire – official tire, Lucas Oil – official oil, VP Racing Fuels – official fuel, KC HiLiTES – official light, John Deere – official UTV, Husqvarna – official motorcycle, Fabtech - Official Suspension, Fall Advertising, Prerunner Maniac, McKenzies, PCI Race Radios, Azunia Tequila, and Sportsman Cycle Sales.

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Chad George WINNING at Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series

Rialto, CA (September 28, 2011) - Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad George brings the heat with 2 WINS and a second place, while taking the SuperLite Championship points lead, during the late-summer inferno in Surprise, Arizona for Rounds 11 & 12 of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series.

While this Monster Energy Kawasaki athlete was pumped up for a great start on Saturday, Chad learned his #1 fan and Grandma, Geri George, suffered a heart attack at the track. With a roller coaster of emotions, Chad placed his thoughts and prayers with Grandma while turning on his inner-demon when it was time to drop the helmet visor.
Saturday morning started with the UTV modified race and it was sure to be a challenge as the #1 Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx has been searching for top finishes in these final championship rounds. With the same 100% attack-the-track attitude, Chad drove the #1 C&G Performance tuned Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx past his competition, and right to the top of the podium for his third UTV Modified victory this year.
As Saturday’s SuperLite Championship launched into action, the sweltering heat created a hard, dry, blue-groove track and the Yokohama Trackside Technicians chose the perfect Yokohama Geolander ATS tire combination to get Chad’s race machine to the front. Chad commented, “It took me 3 laps just to set-up a single pass, it was very difficult but patience and consistency was key.” After the competition-yellow flag marked the half-way point, Chad pushed the Lazer Star LED equipped #42 Kawasaki/Bull Outdoor Products truck into every turn with precision, and stealing the second place podium finish from the current points leader.
With Grandma Geri still in the Arizona hospital, Chad looked toward Sunday’s Round 12 as an opportunity to slaughter the competition with a statement of “Strength and Survival” for his #1 fan. The morning started out great with the #1 Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx leading the pack of hungry wolves until a steering component gave way, forcing Chad out of contention. Chad commented, “Its unfortunate to have such a fast Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx and have something like this happen. All of these UTV Modifieds are pushed to the limit, it’s really an endurance race we are all fighting to win. We won yesteday, we’ll be ready to win again at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in November.”
As the temperature creeped up under the blue skies of Arizona, the SuperLite Championship race was set to kick off for Round 12 of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series. Chad had already put the UTV race behind him and had his sights set on one thing, WINNING. With a comfortable second-row starting position, Chad took the green flag and drove his own race for 6 laps, keeping clear of the chaos all around him. After the half-way point, Chad took a spectacular green-flag restart toward the front, quickly passing 2 trucks in a tangle, and leading the 14 truck field. Chad continued to punish the King Shocks equipped #42 Kawasaki/Yokohama Tires truck off every jump until he launched through the checkered flag claiming his second SuperLite Championship victory of 2011. The WIN also boosted Chad into the series points lead marking him as the current target for 2011 SuperLite Champion.
“I’d like to dedicate this weekend to my Grandma Geri. She’s the reason why this Funco Motorsports family is here and thriving, but NOW it’s going to be even harder to keep up with her, she has a new high performance Pacemaker! A big Thank You to all of my sponsors and fans for allowing me to do what I love.” – Chad George

Chad holds his 1st place trophy, two wins and one 2nd place for the weekend.

Weller Racing on a Roll in Arizona
Lucas Oil Off-Road Race Series – Rounds 11 and 12
With some solid practice and qualifying times under her belt from Friday, Corry hit the track for Saturday’s main event with only one thing on her mind – winning a championship. At the drop of the green flag, she rocketed into the lead and began to distance herself from the field a bit more with each lap. Just before the mandatory caution, Weller bicycled her Tilted Kilt/Lucas Oil SR1 in turn four and had to steer off of the berm to save it from going over. She was quick to get back on track, but not before she had lost several positions. From that point, it was difficult to make up any ground on the very fast front runners in the field, and she had to settle for a fourth place finish for the day.
“Of course I always want to be on the podium for my sponsors, and it’s easy to get frustrated when I don’t make it on the box,” stated Weller, after her race on Saturday. “But, when I look at the big picture, I am very happy to have finished this race and maintain my points lead, especially considering all of the bad luck people seem to be having this weekend.”
Weller would start in the second row for Sunday’s main event, and when the green flag dropped, the whole field shot forward into turn one. When lap one had sorted itself out, Weller was in second place and in pursuit of Dempsey, who had gotten a great start and was leading the field. Weller was moving fast in second place when turn four once again put a rare stop to her run, this time putting Weller on her lid as she hit a rut and couldn’t save it.
“All I could think about was getting back on my wheels and finishing that race!” said Weller. “The track crew pushed me back over once everyone went by, and I fired my SR1 back up and took off after everybody, trying to make up time.”
Weller was able to stay on the lead lap despite her mishap, and at the mandatory caution she was able to catch back up to the rear of the pack, putting her in a position for a run at the front when the green flag dropped for the last time.
“You know, I knew something was broken up front after my flip, and I was asking my spotter to tell me if he could see it, but something had happened to our radios and I couldn’t reach him,” Weller commented. “My steering was way off, and I had no brakes, so I figured something had happened to my right front wheel and rotor. At this point in the series, I had to finish that race and get in every lap that I could, so I just tried to feel out my car in every turn and every jump, and I pushed it as hard as I thought it could handle.”
Weller’s determination paid off, and she managed to race her damaged SR1 home to a third place finish, despite a shattered wheel bearing and broken rotor.
“I figured that, either my wheel was going to fall off, or we were going to make those checkers – I just decided to go as fast as I could until one of those things happened! I really want this championship!”
Corry and her team will be heading into Las Vegas Motor Speedway in November with the points lead still intact, and the determination to do whatever it takes to put the #810 SR1 on the box for both rounds.
Weller Racing would like to recognize and heartily thank those who have made racing this season possible: The Tilted Kilt, Lucas Oil, Walker Evans, Lone Star Racing, Maxxis Tires, MagnaFlow, Simpson, K&N, AEM, BS Sand, HJC, LOORRS, UTV Underground, our fellow SR1 racers and friends, our fans, and our families who sacrifice so much so that we can do what we do best.

Agencies Unite for Statewide 'RIDE ON' Campaign
OGDEN, Utah (September 28, 2011) — RIDE ON Designated Routes is a new statewide campaign that has united land management agencies to educate outdoor recreationists who use motorized vehicles on Utah’s public lands.
The campaign, created by Tread Lightly, unites the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Utah Division of State Parks, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and the Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration together in an effort to spread a consistent message throughout the state. Tread Lightly! also brings funding and support from the private sector, such as Yamaha’s OHV Access Initiative and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, making this a public/private partnership promoting conservation and sustainable outdoor recreation.
The outreach effort is centered on the slogan RIDE ON Designated Routes, originally created for national application but now being customized with Utah-specific images and messages. Since 1998, the number of off-highway vehicles (OHVs) registered in Utah has nearly tripled, putting additional pressure on Utah's public lands, especially in popular riding areas. RIDE ON reinforces that responsible recreation is the key to preserving and protecting Utah's many great motorized recreation opportunities. The initiative will also expand to address issues like safety and resource damage– today’s most pressing recreation issues in Utah.
“The collaboration among agencies regarding the implementation of this campaign will be unprecedented,” says Juan Palma, BLM Utah State Director. “Whether you’re recreating at a State Park or on BLM land, in the north or south, there will be continuity across boundaries and consistency in messaging throughout the state.”
"Utah State Parks is a strong advocate of education and this campaign promotes safe operation on designated routes for the OHV enthusiasts. It also allows OHV riders to receive the same consistent statewide messaging," Mary Tullius, Director, Utah State Parks and Recreation.
The first print public service announcements are being designed and will be placed in popular recreation areas throughout the state. In addition to print public service announcements, other materials and mechanisms used to raise awareness and motivate responsible behaviors will include radio public service announcements, trailhead kiosks, billboards, posters, web technology, social media and educational brochures.
“People come from all over the world to hunt, fish, camp or simply recreate in Utah,” says Rob MacWhorter, Forest Supervisor, Dixie National Forest. “The majority of all recreationists are very responsible, but these messages are designed to help improve some of the behaviors of the few who don’t know how to tread lightly or don’t have a strong outdoor ethic yet.”
"The Trust Lands Administration fully supports the Ride On Designated Routes message and is excited to be a part of this effort," says Kevin Carter, Director, Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration.
Notably, the public agencies and Tread Lightly! plan to evaluate the impact of the messaging and their outreach efforts over the next few years through comprehensive research. “Because of the wide variety of recreation it provides, Utah is the perfect location for project evaluation,” said Lori McCullough, Tread Lightly!’s executive director. The organization will also implement and evaluate other Tread Lightly! educational messages, such as its comprehensive Respected Access is Open Access campaign. “Utah will become a site specific laboratory where we will research the efficacy of Tread Lightly!’s current and future messages,” says McCullough.
More information about the RIDE ON Designated Routes campaign can be found at http://www.treadlightly.org/.

World's Most Expensive Hand Shovel?
Extreme Outback Products introduces the Ultimate Shovel: Aussie-proven performance for soldiers, off-roaders, outdoorsmen and field service people
Vacaville, CA - Military folding shovels are compact and well-suited for garden-variety camping duty. Full-sized landscaping shovels are more functional but are a pain to pack. Extreme Outback Products offers the best of both worlds for people who do serious digging but need stowable convenience: The Ultimate Shovel. Engineered in Australia and tested in the Outback, this three-piece shovel features a muti-core, steel-reinforced fiberglass shaft.
Unlike imitation models that aren't reinforced, the Ultimate Shovel won't snap while digging out vehicles buried in deep sand (or creating prize-winning castles at the beach). When the job requires only a spade, the D-handle's steel threads screw directly into the 7.5-inch-wide heat-treated blade assembly. The Ultimate Shovel is ideal for everything from overlanding to field service to "soft-roading." All three pieces stow in an included storage bag.
Specifications:
- Long Handle Shovel Length: 57" / 1,450mm
- D-Handle Shovel Length: 39.75" / 1,010mm
- Minimum "Break Down" Length: 32" / 810mm
- Blade Width: 7.5" / 193mm

Extreme Outback Products are sold primarily in the United States but are also used in such remote places such as Uganda, Indonesia, Iceland, and The Falkland Islands.

Koronis Parts introduces Speed Industries door kits for the Polaris RZR
Costa Mesa, CA (September 16th, 2011) – Kornonis Parts, Inc. unveiled their new Speed IndustriesTM branded door kit for Polaris’ RZR models today at the 2011 Sand Sports Super Show.
Given the relatively tight accommodations of Polaris’ popular RZR lineup, company spokesman Robin Gray explained, “We recognized early on that a suicide-style door is going to provide a much more intuitive and ergonomic access solution“.
He went on to explain, “While there are suicide doors out there already, they all seem to rely on a hard-mounted filler panel to provide the hinge-point. But this solution drastically reduces the already limited space available to climb in and out of the cab.
The solution—hinge the doors on the existing B-Pillar just behind the seats. The result is a door that opens the full width of the cab, allowing easier entry and exit as well as full access to the seat latches and gas filler cap. Raising the convenience factor even higher, Speed IndustriesTM RZR doors can be completely removed without tools.
Another key point of differentiation the Speed IndustriesTM RZR door kit offers is in its construction. Rather than the typical sheet metal doors available, Speed has taken a more automotive approach, by mating a rigid, welded steel frame to a stylish thermoformed polyethylene skin. This solution not only integrates better aesthetically with the vehicle, but the poly skin is lightweight and virtually indestructible.
Superior design and premium materials come together to offer a unique and stylish solution to rider safety. The RZR door kit from Speed IndustriesTM is manufactured in the USA by skilled American craftsmen and is available your local powersports dealer through Parts Unlimited, Tucker Rocky and Western Powersports Inc. or online at www.koronisparts.com. Fits all 2008-2011 Polaris RZR models. MSRP $599.99.
Koronis Parts, Inc. is located in Paynesville, Minnesota. Koronis Parts manufactures snowmobile, ATV/UTV, automotive and motorcycle accessories under the BeardTM, Speed IndustriesTM, Sno StuffTM and Driver DesignTM brands as well as through OEM and private label partners. More information about Koronis Parts, Inc. or any of it’s brands is available online at www.koronisparts.com.

Maxxis' Baron Takes Two Wins at WORCS Round 7
Beau Baron’s winning weekend included victories in both the Pro ATV and Side x Side classes at WORCS Round 7. The races were held September 17-18 at Glen Helen MX in Devore, California.
Riding Bighorn 2.0 tires on a stock Polaris RZR XP, the Maxxis/MCR rider took the holeshot in the Side x Side race and kept on charging. Baron held off stiff competition during the entire one-hour race for the win. He is third in points in the Side x Side class, with three class wins.
The next day in the Pro race, Baron’s teammate Davi Haagsma grabbed the holeshot, while Baron steadily worked his way to the front position over the first few laps and eventually checked out. Baron is third in Pro points for the series. Haagsma, who finished a strong fourth for the day, is fifth in points.
As always, Baron was pleased with the performance of his Maxxis products: "It's like I always say: The Maxxis tires hook up from beginning to end. They hold up so well, and I'm able to push as hard at the end as I can at the start."
In more good news for Maxxis, two racers on Razr tires made the Pro Am podium: Chase Thomas and Keith Johnson took second and third place, respectively. Johnson is third in points for the class, while Thomas is fifth.
Maxxis congratulates Beau Baron on his latest victories and thanks all of its riders for their outstanding performances.

DFR Adds New Meaning to the Term "Race Pace"
To use a hackneyed — but often accurate — expression: “Slow and steady wins the race.” Originally attributed to the Tortoise and the Hare, that quotation sometime fits the bill for off-road races, too. But if slow and steady just isn’t in your DNA, check out our new Race Pace lineup of RZR parts and accessories.
Products and accessories in the DragonFire Racing Race Pace line are friendly on the paycheck, allowing you to build your ride to your specs over a period of time — or pay for the whole ball of wax at once. It’s your choice.
We create this line out of the understanding that unless you’re a trust fund baby or you’ve got a big corporate sponsor backing you up, chances are you have to add improvements to your off-road race vehicle in increments tied to your paycheck.
If that’s the case, we here at DragonFire Racing are offering a new, incrementally accessible armor system for your RZR that we’re calling the “Race Pace” program. What that means is, you can add a roll cage, bumper, and add other race-ready parts on your ride in steps rather than having to spend thousands upfront for an entire system.
For the racer without a sponsor, Race Pace is a wallet-friendly, affordable line that enables you to progressively upgrade your vehicle to look and run at the same “race pace” as the professional racers you follow and most likely think highly of.
Parts currently included in Race Pace lineup include:
The name says it all! DragonFire continues to crank up the heat when it comes to the best products in the UTV business. DFR has everything from engine and suspension components to bolt-on accessories! We feel your passion, so when you think of UTV parts and accessories think of the Dragon… and feel the heat!

Yokley Racing's Glen Helen MX Park WORCS Side by Side & Pro ATV Race Report
Devore, California, September 17-18, 2011
National Guard Polaris Coastal DragonFire Yokley Racing Team driver William Yokley finished 2nd in the Side by Side 1 Class in Round 7 of the 2011 WORCS Series, and National Guard Polaris Coastal Yokley Racing Team driver Scott Kiger finished 5th in the same Class. National Guard Coastal Yokley Racing ATV Team rider Jarrod McClure finished 6th in the Pro ATV Class.
Summary – Side by Side Race
The National Guard Coastal Yokley Racing Team traveled to Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California after a brief summer break. Glen Helen hosts many different types of off-road races, including the AMA National Motocross Series. The course features a pro style mx course with many steep hills and lots of natural elevation changes. The weather was sunny and 85 degrees.
William Yokley was in 4th place after the first turn, with teammate Scott Kiger right behind. The two National Guard Coastal Polaris Ranger RZR XP900s moved up to 2nd and 3rd going into the second lap. They stayed in those positions for the next several laps. Scott dropped back to 5th place after damaging his front differential on one of the many rocks. William had a nice battle with the lead machine, finally finishing in 2nd place, and Scott coming home in 5th place. The course was pretty rough, with many sandy washboard sections with choppy, square-edged whoops. Both machines ran strong and cool, thanks to their large capacity radiators and cooling systems built by Fluidyne Powersports.
Yokley increased his lead in the WORCS season points, and Scott is in 4th. The next side by side race is the GNCC in St.Clairsville Ohio on October 8.
Summary – Pro ATV Race
Jarrod McClure traveled straight from the GNCC race in New York last weekend to California to prepare for this weekend’s WORCS race. He got a poor start, and was toward the rear of the field on lap 1. He steadily worked his way forward on his National Guard Coastal ATV. His progress slowed toward the end of the 9 lap race when he damaged a rear wheel on a rock. This caused his machine to veer off line when he accelerated. Jarrod finished in 6th place at the end of the 90 minute race. He is in 6th place in WORCS season points.
Jarrod liked the track, but said the many rocks were quite a challenge. Jarrod will travel back across the country to next week’s GNCC ATV race in Somerset Pennsylvania.

DragonFire Blasts Out 2012 Catalog
Fans “Feel The Heat” At Sand Sports Super Show
UTVGuide.net Blog or on Facebook
Costa Mesa, CA June 20, 2011 — With attendance pushing 50,000 rabid dune enthusiasts, the 13th Annual Sand Sports Super Show this past weekend proved to be the perfect venue for DragonFire to take the wraps off their 2012 products. From their all-new RacePace cages and bumpers, to the FireBreather intake systems and DragonFire exhaust systems, DFR certainly seemed to have something for everyone at the Sand Sports Show.
Whether it is style, protection or performance, DFR has been smoking the competition, particularly when it comes to high performance mods for your SxS. “We have certainly made a name for ourselves by offering superior engineering and vastly improved performance,” acknowledges DragonFire’s GM, Scott Highland. “But we really do offer so much more than just hop-up parts, so it was great to be able to show just how broad our product range really is for the recreational market.”
In fact, DragonFire brought out four of their latest project vehicles packed with the latest innovations, not to mention creating an entirely new trade show booth for the Sand Sports Super Show. But the real show stopper was the surprise release of DragonFire’s 2012 catalog. “It was a real challenge to fit so many new products into the catalog,” says Highland. “However after months of hard work, planning and plenty of late nights, we managed to get all the new products into production and 52 page package delivered in time for the Sand Sports Show… talk about hot off the presses!”
By way of comparison, the last couple of catalogs had 20 pages less worth of product innovations in them. “We have invested a tremendous amount of R&D into the 2012 product range,” adds Highland. “And we are proud of the fact that all these new products have been designed, manufactured and tested by enthusiasts!”
For those DragonFire fans who had to miss all the action at the Sand Sports Show, the good news is that the new catalog is available now to anyone who wants to “Feel The Heat.” Simply log onto www.dragonfireracing.com to see an online version of the new or hit them up at DFR’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/DragonFireRacing?ref=ts to get a hard copy of the 2012 catalog.

ITP HAD A BLAST AT BRIMSTONE
ITP was proud to be a part of the 2011 SxS & ATV Roundup, held for the third time at Brimstone Recreation near Huntsville, Tennessee. There’s nothing like spending a Labor Day weekend with 5,000 of your closest friends!
The desert-like conditions experienced this year (hot and dry) did little to dampen the fun and excitement this event always presents. Activities included guided trail rides for riders of all ability levels, a “Show and Shine,” a drive-in movie, a Kid Zone, and a concert by Tracy Lawrence. A vendor/demo area drew plenty of attention, and ITP was there. ITP also held a raffle drawing for a set of Mayhem tires.
There were a number of competitive events as well, such as drag races, sled pulls, an obstacle course, pole bending, mud bogs and a ladies dash for cash. Highlighting the racing was Sunday’s King of the Mountain Endurance Challenge.
The King of the Mountain race is one of the toughest around, a true test of man and machine: in the three-hour ATV event only 12 of the 23 entrants were able to finish; only five of 19 UTVs were able to complete their two-hour event. ITP passed this test with flying colors, as Alan Clark and Chris Umphrey finished first and third in the UTV race, both running ITP 900XCT tires. Jimmy Elam was the ATV winner, using ITP Holeshot GNCC tires at the rear of his quad. Congratulations, guys!
We highly recommend putting the SxS & ATV Roundup on your itinerary for 2012. There is something for everyone on Brimstone’s 19,000 acres in northeast Tennessee. To learn more, visit http://brimstonerecreation.com.
Since 1982, ITP has grown into the world's #1 ATV/UTV aftermarket tire and wheel source, and continues to provide a complete line of innovative tires and wheels for virtually all ATVs and UTVs. For a copy of ITP’s full-color product catalog, call toll-free: 1-800-859-4740. For other inquiries or technical advice, contact ITP at 930-A S. Rockefeller Ave., Ontario, CA 91761; (909) 390-1905. KYLE LEDUC TO DRIVE THE BLACK RHINO #899 SR1
09/15/11 El Cajon, CA- Black Rhino is pleased to announce the addition of Kyle LeDuc to the growing list of drivers representing Black Rhino. LeDuc will be racing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ UTV Class for Black Rhino with all discussions based on the remainder of the 2011 season. With a name like Kyle LeDuc teaming up with Black Rhino, a tremendous amount of positive attention will be drawn to the class. “There are a lot of good drivers and families involved in the UTV class and we will do everything we can to help it grow.” stated Kenny Osborn, owner of Black Rhino.
Osborn and LeDuc have been working out all of the details at the Black Rhino headquarters in El Cajon, CA over the last few weeks. Osborn explained, “The deal came about rather fast. It all started when we brought a new crew member on our team, Layton Kramer. His first day at work he was telling me about the partially built SR1 Kyle LeDuc was selling. I asked him to get some pictures and we would talk about it the next day. Well not only did he get pictures but he also told me Kyle would be willing to help finish the car, help with the testing and possibly even race it for us. We had our crew out the door within hours to pick it up and get it back to Black Rhino. I spoke with Kyle for the first time the day after we got the SR1 into our shop. During our conversation we discussed Kyle racing the SR1 the rest of this season for Black Rhino. Kyle not only agreed to drive for us but he also offered to help teach and coach Bryan on how to further improve his racing skills. Now that is what I would call one hell of a package deal.”
Bryan Osborn, driver of the Black Rhino #854, is looking forward to being coached by LeDuc, “He can help me with my lines, with driving competitive and pushing the car as much as I can.”
LeDuc said of his racing background, “We grew up playing in the dirt; we had a father that let us. He was always racing so we were always around racing. The first thing we started racing was mountain bikes and we became pros and had great careers.” Eventually the opportunity came up for the family to move to the world of off road. LeDuc started out by building a prolite and became hooked on the sport. He won his first race in 2003 and the following year in 2004 he won 6 rounds and the championship. In 2008 he built a pro4 and won 4 races his first season in the division. “It has been a class I've loved for a long time and have had great success in the division.” stated LeDuc. In 2011 he went back to prolite and added it to his pro4 program currently campaigns both trucks.
When LeDuc talks about racing, his passion is obvious, “I have loved the thrill of competition my entire life. It's the idea that if you work hard enough and keep your mind always advancing then it’s up to you to drive the he'll out of it to finish the package and take home trophies! That's what makes me smile; winning and being the fastest man alive.”
LeDuc’s goal is to help the SR1 class grow by bringing in more pro drivers. “I want to get them hooked on these stupid fun cars. They aren't play toys anymore, these are serious machines that deserve to be watched and enjoyed by everyone that loves off road racing. Black rhino is obviously a huge name in the UTV world and I have been a huge supporter of the UTV classes. I have owned my own race car and have raced a lot with it. Now Black Rhino has taken on the chore of giving me the best car they possibly can and believe me, I will deliver. I also enjoy helping the younger kids coming up in the sport to get them fearless and skilled behind the wheel to keep this racing program up and chaotic for the fans to always enjoy.” said LeDuc.
In addition to Black Rhino, Kyle Leduc is currently sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink, Makita Power Tools, Toyo Tires, K&N Air Filters, King Shocks, Sparco Racing Equipment, Kicker Sound Systems, Team Associated, KC Highlites, Truxx Lift and Level Kits and Wilwood Brakes.
