Arctic Cat Sales Up in Second Quarter

Arctic Cat Inc. officials announced today during the company’s second quarter earnings call that its snowmobile sales rose 25 percent to $114.7 million in the fiscal 2012 second quarter, up from $91.5 million in the prior-year quarter.

Company officials said sales were fueled by Arctic Cat's new 2012 model lineup of 23 all-new snowmobiles that represent 75 percent of the company’s current offerings.

In addition, Arctic Cat’s net sales increased by 17 percent to $204.8 million on higher sales across all product lines in the company’s second quarter, compared to the second quarter in 2011.

Arctic Cat also raised its fiscal 2012 sales and earnings guidance to a range of $1.10-$1.15 earnings per share, a 57-64 percent increase over fiscal 2011, on expected full-year sales growth of 14-17 percent.

Arctic Cat’s net earnings increased to $21.4 million on net sales of $204.8 million for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30. In the prior-year second quarter, Arctic Cat reported net earnings of $17.8 million on net sales of $175.8 million.

"We are very pleased to report double-digit sales and earnings gains in the second quarter," Arctic Cat president and CEO Claude Jordan said. "Once again, revenue grew across all product lines. Sales in the quarter benefited from particularly strong snowmobile sales, driven by the introduction of our extensive new 2012 snowmobile model lineup. We also continued to improve profitability through operational excellence and a lower cost structure."

For the six months ended Sept. 30, Arctic Cat's net earnings were $19.1 million on net sales of $279.8 million. In the first six months of last fiscal year, the company reported net earnings of $13.3 million, or $0.72 per diluted share, on net sales of $239.2 million.

ATV sales increased 4 percent to $58.8 million in the fiscal 2012 second quarter versus $56.6 million in the same period last year, primarily due to increased international ATV sales. Officials said Arctic Cat continued its strategy to match wholesale sales with actual retail demand, while introducing new models and features in segments with the greatest consumer demand.

During the second quarter, Arctic Cat began to roll out to dealers its all-new Wildcat V-twin 1000i H.O. pure-sport recreational off-road vehicle, which was officially unveiled in July 2011.

"The Wildcat gives consumers a pure-sport hot rod and marks our first entry into the growing sport side-by-side market," Jordan said. "Dealer demand for this off-road vehicle is very strong, and we remain on track to begin shipping it to dealers in the third quarter of this fiscal year."

Sales of PG&A in the fiscal 2012 second quarter grew 13 percent to $31.4 million versus $27.6 million in the prior-year quarter. Contributing to higher PG&A sales were preseason snowmobile-related parts, garments and accessories, as well as the e-commerce initiative launched earlier this year. Arctic Cat also recently launched an e-commerce initiative for consumers in Canada. Arctic Cat introduced nearly 40 Wildcat accessories for vehicle customization in the quarter.

"We are again raising our full-year sales and earnings outlook for fiscal 2012, based on better than anticipated second-quarter results, higher anticipated volume, and a continued focus on controlling costs and leveraging our operating efficiency," Jordan said. "The company remains well-positioned for future sales growth across all product lines. We continue to expect higher snowmobile sales, due to our new model lineup. We also see continued gains in our ATV business, due to the competitive strength of our core ATV and Prowler side-by-side offerings, and the growth potential for our Wildcat pure-sport ROV model. Additionally, we remain focused on further enhancing the company's profitability through operational efficiencies."

The company's fiscal 2012 outlook includes the following assumptions versus the prior fiscal year: ATV industry retail sales declining approximately 10-15 percent; snowmobile industry retail sales up approximately 5-10 percent; Arctic Cat dealer inventories decreasing 10-20 percent; achieving lower operating expense levels as a percent of sales; increasing cash flow from operations; and ending the year with more cash on the balance sheet.

Jordan also said the company’s snowmobile dealer inventory is down 12 percent in North America compared to the year-ago quarter, with dealer inventory of Arctic Cat ATVs down 24 percent compared to the year-ago quarter. Industry-wide, ATV sales decreased 12 percent in the quarter compared to the same period in 2010.

Arctic Cat saw side-by-side sales growth of 8 percent in the quarter compared to the second quarter of 2010. Initial orders of the Wildcat have been strong as expected.

“We thought we were going to take a large number of orders, and we did,” Jordan said.

Mesa, AZ October 25, 2011 — After battling with each other all season long, the GNCC championship came down to the season finale in Indiana for Team Hendershot and William Yokley piloting the National Guard Polaris Coastal DragonFire machine. Although Team Hendershot’s father/son team of Larry and Michael won the last round, Yokley’s calculated second place finish gave him just enough points to win the open modified UTV class in his Ranger RZR XP 900.

Yokley Racing’s Scott Kiger finished third on the day and for the season… but the real winner for the day was DragonFire as all three machines featured DFR racing components. “Win, place and show… DragonFire was definitely off to the races at the GNCC event this past weekend,” says DFR GM Scott Highland. “You could definitely ‘Feel The Heat!’ on the podium.”

With 54 total entries and 25 open modified machines taking to the tight tree sections, alternating with wide open cornfields and slick streambeds/hillclimbs making up the tough Crawfordsville terrain, many racers did not finish the aptly named “Ironman” race.

“The tighter, the better,” notes Highland. “All three of the top machines were running our Yokley Woods Edition RZR XP Suspension Kits.” Specifically designed for GNCC racing, this kit actually narrows the RZR XP by 3” on each side for a width that totals 6” narrower than stock. “Perfect for the trees, but more than stable enough for the high-speed sections through the cornfields,” claims Highland.

In addition to the Woods Suspension Package, DragonFire was proud to help William Yokley win his second National GNCC championship with a host of other hop-up components, according to Highland. “Yokley’s #1 rig also featured DragonFire’s RZR XP Dual Exhaust, DFR Racing Woods Cam, Low Boy doors, DragonBack seats, LockDown SFI-approved competiton harness, and DragonFire’s quick-detach steering wheel.”

The capper, literally, was the newly released DragonSkins numberplate system, which is the highlight of the just-released 2012 catalog. “DragonFire can’t help you drive like William Yokley, but we can guarantee you get the same top quality components he used to win the GNCC title,” says Highland.

BFGoodrich Tires Honors Dusy-Ershim OHV Trail as 2011 Outstanding Trail

BFGoodrich Tires honored the Dusy-Ershim OHV Trail in Sanger, Calif., over the weekend as one of the 2011 Outstanding Trails. For the first time ever, fans in the off-road community were given the power to vote for their favorite off-road trail, and Dusy-Ershim came out on top. Off-road enthusiasts and members of the Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno, Calif., were in attendance as BFGoodrich Tires presented a grant of $4,000 to the club. The grant will be used to preserve the scenic trail and continue conservation efforts for one of America’s most beautiful areas for off-roading.

Dusy-Ershim OHV Trail in the Sierra National Forest offers 33 miles of high mountain meadows, creeks, six natural lakes, unique granite mountains, cliffs and panoramic views at 10,200 feet. The trail is a major challenge for drivers, and having advanced driving skills is highly recommended. Dusy-Ershim offers the perfect escape, because it does not cross any roads or other OHV trails. It also has many foot trails, lakes and creeks that are accessible to walkers and hikers.

The Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno was founded in 1954. It has built 10 trails and currently maintains six of them. The club coordinates with the Forest Service to perform various work projects that maintain and preserve the trails throughout the year. Some of the work projects include building and maintaining toilets, maintaining campgrounds, trail cleanups and upkeep of trail signage.

DENVER, CO (October 24, 2011)--Recreation access advocates expressed disappointment with the recent decision of the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals reinstating the 2001 Roadless Rule. That decision was issued on October 21, 2011 by a three-judge panel over eighteen months after the case was argued. Their 120-page opinion disagreed with the Wyoming district court, emphasizing the procedural low bar that the Forest Service cleared under laws like the National Environmental Policy Act. The 2001 Rule was issued in the waning days of the Clinton administration and is considered by many to be the brainchild of preservationist special interests channeled through former vice president named Al Gore.

"We would have rather seen a different outcome, but hope this will allow energy to be diverted away from the courts and into actual management of our public lands," said Greg Mumm, Executive Director of the BlueRibbon Coalition, a national advocacy organization for trails-based recreation that has participated in the various Roadless cases. "We are naively hopeful that preservationist interests and decision-makers take to heart the Court's conclusion that the Roadless Rule does not create de facto wilderness, but rather 'no prohibitions on the use of motorized vehicles or equipment, boats or aircraft, or other forms of mechanical transport'" noted Mumm (quoting page 28 of the Decision). "Contrary to the parade of horribles that supporters invoke in hopes of currying favor for the Rule, the recreation community has never sought more than recognition of continuing access along existing routes in 'roadless' areas," Mumm concluded.

Other recreational groups participating alongside BlueRibbon were the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, United Four Wheel Drive Associations, and the American Council of Snowmobile Associations.
It remains to be seen how interest groups, bureaucrats and elected officials will respond to this development. The "roadless" issue is complex and ongoing, with the quality of any side's perceived or claimed victory sometimes correlated with the tenacity of opposition from others. The Recreation Groups intend to remain active in the ongoing efforts to follow this decision, including governing law and helping to craft sound policy recreational opportunity for a diverse array of public lands visitors.

RANGER RZRs One, Two at Best in the Desert’s Epic Racing Products Bluewater Gran Prix

Parks wins race for second time in a row
Minneapolis, Oct. 20, 2011–For the second year in a row, Matt Parks took the checkered flag in his RANGER RZR 4 800, at the Best in the Desert’s Bluewater Grand Prix. Parks came into the two-day race seven points out of the BITD points lead and a win at Bluewater would help close the points gap.

The race consisted of racing three 25-mile laps both Saturday and Sunday with the cumulative time determining the finishing order. The race is unique as they start the side-by-sides every 30 seconds, in pairs, in a drag race to the first turn. To start out the day, Parks raced another RANGER RZR, got the hole shot and was quickly chasing dust from the two side-by-sides that started 30 seconds ahead of them. By race mile 3, he had caught both of the side-by-sides and by mile 4, was the second place UTV on course physically, but had to pass all of the Jeep Speeds and Baja bugs that started ahead of them. The only side-by-side Parks hadn’t passed was the Jagged X RANGER RZR XP 900 which had quite a lead on them and ended up winning the Saturday race by a minute-and-a-half with Parks in second.

Day two started the same way as day one with day one’s finishing order as the starting order. Parks and Jagged X would start side-by-side with Jagged X taking the hole shot. Jagged X and Parks were running one, two when they caught up to the first Jeep Speed. The Jeep Speed got out of the way, but didn’t realize that there were two side-by-sides behind them and they cut right in front of Parks after letting Jagged X by. After a few miles, Parks was eventually able to get by them. Coming into the hot pit, Parks was only 30 seconds behind Jagged X and by the end of the three-mile Parker Python infield section, they were within 20 seconds. They ran one, two for a few more miles until they got onto the river road and Parks was able to get by and try to make up a minute-and-a-half in a lap-and-a-half in order to take the win. They ended up winning on corrected time by making up the one minute thirty second deficit from day one.

‘We had a blast racing this unique two-day race,” said Parks. “We won this race last year which was the first race for my Holz built race RZR 4 nicknamed the Baja Bobsled. Winning it twice in a row makes it even sweeter.”

The final 2011 Best in the Desert race is the Transwest Ford Henderson 250, in Henderson, Nevada, on December 3rd.

Parks is sponsored by Holz Racing Products, Walker Evans Shocks and Wheels, Maxxis Tires, Kroyer Racing Engines, Desert West Off Road Race Prep, Muzzy Exhaust, OMF, Tire Balls, Pure Polaris Lubricants, Valley Cycle – Bakersfield, Utendorfer Graphics

Lynden, Washington (October 19, 2011) – Matt Parks started the weekend 7 points out of the lead in the Best In The Desert race series. He needed a win at the Bluewater Desert Challenge to remain in contention with only one more race on the schedule. The Challenge is a two-day event – three laps of the 25-mile desert course both Saturday and Sunday. Driving his “Baja Bobsled”, a custom 2-seat RZR 4 built by Holz Racing Products, Matt and his co-pilots, Jason Spiess (Saturday) and Mike Carr (Sunday), raced aggressively through the dust. “The Kroyer built RZR 800 engine ran flawlessly both days,” Matt said. “It was really put to the test in the deep sand and silt.”

Parks finished second on Saturday, 1:35 behind the first-place UTV Pro. Like Saturday, the 15-UTV field started behind Jeep Speed and Baja Bug Classes.  The leading UTV had a strong start off the line and Matt chased him through the pack of Jeeps and Bugs that started ahead. “Our Holz Racing-built RZR 4 handled the course better than most,” comments Parks. “The course on day two was really torn up after 175 race vehicles each did three laps on the 25-mile course.  The whoops were massive, the silt blinding and the ruts so deeps that we dragged the skid plate.” With 37 miles left to race, the Bobsled overtook the lead UTV and the team focused on the gap. “We had a minute and a half to make up in a lap and a half in order to take the overall win. Mike and I waited at the finish line and, after a while, celebrated knowing we had won on corrected time having made up our deficit from day one.  I don’t know where we are in the points, but we have to be really close going into the season’s final race.”

Parks will race the Transwest Ford Henderson 250 in Henderson, Nevada on December 3rd.

This year's course will be a combination of desert trails and rock trails that will make it exciting for both the competitors and spectators alike. Tackling one lap around the rough Johnson Valley desert along with a couple of the famous Hammer trails will prove the durability of both the driver and machine.
The good news to racers is entry fees will remain low with an entry fee of $475. IRC tracking will also be required for the race this year so your family and friends that weren't able to make it to the lake bed will be able to watch your progress during the race.
Technical inspection will take place in downtown Hammertown on Wednesday night at the vendor booth.

Yamaha Employees Support OHV Areas in Southern California

CYPRESS, Calif. – October 20, 2011 – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., has taken a leading role in supporting safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas by GRANTing nearly $2 million through its OHV Access Initiative since 2008. This financial support has proven critical in areas such as building bridges over fish-baring streams, improving thousands of miles of trails, and renovating staging areas.

In addition to financial support from the OHV Access Initiative, Yamaha employees out of the company’s Cypress, Calif., headquarters have taken on a personal obligation to support this mission as well.

Earlier this October, more than 60 employees, family members and friends convened in the San Bernardino National Forest (SBNF) volunteering more than 200 work hours and kicking off a long-term restoration project at the popular Cactus Flats staging area near Big Bear Lake. Volunteers reached some initial restoration goals through weeding, grubbing, seed collecting, planting native shrubs, watering and other important clean-up projects.

“It’s exciting to see so many Yamaha employees volunteer their weekend and get their hands dirty in support of our local mountains and OHV areas,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV and SxS group marketing manager, who participated in the volunteer project and helps spearhead the OHV Access Initiative. “The San Bernardino National Forest Association has a model OHV program that garners thousands of volunteer hours every year. We’re happy to do our small part for our local trails, and we encourage OHV enthusiasts across the country to continue to keep their riding areas safe and sustainable, as well as look to our OHV program for support.”

The weekend’s activities were hosted by the Yamaha ATV/SxS Group, as part of the OHV Access Initiative, and in conjunction with the San Bernardino National Forest Association (SBNFA), a long time Yamaha partner and beneficiary of the OHV Access Initiative. SBNFA staff have helped lead past Yamaha volunteer projects in the forest and many volunteers from its own OHV program have helped out onsite as well.

“Yamaha’s partnership continues to grow as do our restoration initiatives on the San Bernardino National Forest,” said Rick Lavello, SBNFA OHV program director. “They set a high standard for employee teambuilding events with enthusiasm and pride in giving back to their local forest land and trails. The SBNFA appreciates their commitment and hard work.”

In previous years, Yamaha employees conducted a number of volunteer projects in this area, offering their time and energy planting trees, clearing brush, pulling weeds, picking up trash and generally cleaning up riding areas and the surrounding forest. In 2009 and 2010, close to 200 volunteers including Yamaha employees, their family and friends, donated approximately 1,000 hours and planted more than 3,400 trees to help reforest burn areas. This is in addition to Yamaha’s ongoing work on the company’s adopted and sponsored trails in the SBNF system (downloadable maps are available here:

The SBNF is the mountain playground to 24 million Southern Californians -- or 10 percent of the nation’s population. Given its proximity to this population base, the SBNF is an “urban” forest and, consequently, is the most recreated and populated national forest in the system. More than 2.5 million people recreate annually in the SBNF and 60,000 reside full- or part-time.

The SBNFA is seeking additional support from corporate, community and nonprofit organizations interested in creating a restoration event for their employees or members to add their legacy to a healthier and sustainable San Bernardino National Forest. To inquire, contact Stacy Gorin, restoration director, at 909-382-2794.

Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 Review

I was fortunate enough to be invited by Arctic Cat to drive the new 2012 Arctic Cat Wildcat at the media introduction in Barstow, CA. After spending two days behind the wheel and as passenger, I can honestly say that Arctic Cat has stepped up the Sport UTV market. If you have been off-roading in Barstow, you know that it is an unforgiving place.  If you haven’t been there, then imagine deep, uneven whoops created by every sort of off-road vehicle imaginable.  In most UTVs, the only way to traverse the area is going slow. But not for the new Wildcat. As a passenger, I saw terrain ahead and thought “Uh Oh”.  But then we blasted right through it. Truly impressive. And what we all experienced is based on shocks that were valved for all types of terrain across the United States.  If you want something tuned for big whoops and g-outs, I can only imagine the nirvana that could be obtained with the Wildcat!

Polaris Reports Record Third Quarter 2011 Results

Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII) today reported record third quarter net income of $67.6 million, or $0.95 per diluted share, for the quarter ended September 30, 2011, up 43 percent and 38 percent, respectively, from the prior year's third quarter net income of $47.2 million, or $0.69 per diluted share. Sales for the third quarter 2011 totaled a record $729.9 million, an increase of 26 percent from last year's third quarter sales of $580.1 million.

Scott Wine, Polaris' Chief Executive Officer, stated that "Despite challenging economic conditions, we are pleased to report another record quarter of sales, net income and earnings per share. I am exceptionally proud of how the Polaris team continued to drive growth and productivity in the third quarter. Each of our businesses experienced strong sales growth in the period, primarily driven by sustained market share gains. North American consumer retail demand for Polaris products remains vital, increasing 16 percent. We also once again improved our profitability, with healthy gross profit margin and net income margin increases when compared to last year."

"I am also pleased to report that our Monterrey, Mexico manufacturing facility shipped their 10,000th side-by-side product in the quarter, marking an important milestone while demonstrating the schedule fidelity and focus on quality that is a cornerstone of Polaris operations. Additionally, integration of Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) and Indian Motorcycle Company is progressing according to plan, providing us with exciting new growth platforms."

2011 Business Outlook The Company is increasing its previously issued sales and earnings guidance and now expects full year 2011 earnings in the range of $3.10 to $3.16 per diluted share, an increase of 45 to 48 percent over full year 2010 earnings of $2.14 per diluted share. Full year 2011 sales are now expected to grow in the range of 30 to 32 percent from 2010.

Wine noted, "Given our year-to-date results, the positive momentum exhibited by our businesses, and the strong performance of our 2012 model year products introduced earlier this year, we are raising our full year 2011 sales and earnings expectations. We expect 2011 will be a record year for Polaris, demonstrating our commitment to making growth happen in spite of adverse economic conditions.

"Looking ahead to 2012, we expect the overall economic climate to remain challenging. However, we believe our business is well positioned to offset these headwinds, as we continue to execute our successful long-term strategy, invest in product innovation, and seize additional opportunities to sustain our momentum. While our current success means the sales and earnings comparisons will be much tougher in 2012, at this early stage we expect to have another year of increasing sales, net income and earnings per share."

Summary of Operations
Off-Road Vehicle ("ORV") sales, comprised of all-terrain vehicles ("ATVs") and RANGER? side-by-side vehicles, increased 25 percent year-over-year, to $486.2 million, during the third quarter 2011. This increase reflects significant North American market share gains for both ATVs and side-by-side vehicles. North American ORV unit retail sales from dealers to consumers for the 2011 third quarter were up low-teens percent year-over-year, with side-by-side vehicle consumer retail sales climbing significantly and ATV consumer retail sales down mid-single digits percent. As a result of consistently strong demand for Polaris products, North American ORV dealer inventories were up modestly compared to the third quarter of 2010, as higher side-by-side vehicle dealer inventory was largely offset by lower ATV dealer inventory. Polaris sales of ORVs outside of North America increased 59 percent compared to the third quarter 2010.

Snowmobile sales for third quarter 2011 were $95.1 million, an increase of 23 percent over third quarter 2010. These results reflect significantly reduced snowmobile dealer inventory levels entering the 2011 - 2012 selling season compared to the prior year, as well as the benefit of more higher priced snowmobiles shipping during the 2011 third quarter than in third quarter 2010.

On-Road Vehicle sales totaled $35.7 million, 77 percent higher than the same period in 2010, primarily due to Victory motorcycle sales increases. Sales of On-Road Vehicles to customers outside of North America increased 74 percent compared to the prior year's third quarter. Third quarter North American heavyweight cruiser and touring motorcycle industry retail sales were up mid-single digits percent over the prior year's third quarter, while Victory unit retail sales in North America increased upper-teens percent during the same period. In addition, a modest amount of On-Road vehicle sales related to the GEM and Indian Motorcycle Company acquisitions were recorded in the third quarter 2011.
Parts, Garments, and Accessories ("PG&A") sales increased 21 percent during the third quarter 2011 to $112.9 million compared to the same period last year, with PG&A sales increasing across all businesses and geographies. During the 2011 third quarter the Company introduced over 200 new accessories and garments to the PG&A product line for the 2012 model year.

International sales totaled $97.9 million for the 2011 third quarter, a 59 percent increase over the same period in 2010. All regions and product lines experienced growth during the quarter driven by higher volume, and increased sales of higher priced side-by-side vehicles and motorcycles. Year-to-date, international sales totaled $293.2 million, an increase of 37 percent over the same period last year.

Gross profit was 28.3 percent of sales for the third quarter of 2011, up 230 basis points from 26.0 percent for the third quarter of 2010. Gross profit dollars increased 37 percent to $206.8 million for the third quarter of 2011, compared to $150.7 million for the third quarter of 2010. Continued product cost reduction efforts, production efficiencies on increased volumes, and higher selling prices were the most significant factors in this increase, partially offset by increasing commodity costs and unfavorable currency movements.

Operating expenses for third quarter 2011 decreased 90 basis points, as a percent of sales, to 14.1 percent of sales compared to 15.0 percent of sales for the same period last year as we gain leverage from the sales increases. Operating expenses in absolute dollars for the third quarter of 2011 increased 18 percent to $102.9 million compared to $87.1 million last year primarily due to continued investments in future growth opportunities and acquisition integration. This was offset somewhat by lower share-based incentive compensation plan expenses in the third quarter 2011, primarily as a result of the lower stock price at September 30, 2011 than a quarter ago.

Income from financial services increased to $6.3 million during third quarter 2011 from $4.1 million in the third quarter of 2010, primarily due to increased profitability generated from the retail credit portfolios with GE, HSBC, and Sheffield.
Non-operating other expense was $5.5 million in the third quarter of 2011, as compared to $1.5 million of income in the third quarter of 2010. The decrease in profitability was the result of foreign currency exchange rate movements and the resulting effects on foreign currency transactions related to the Company's foreign subsidiaries.

Financial Position and Cash Flow
Net cash provided by operating activities increased 26 percent to $198.1 million for the year-to-date period ended September 30, 2011 compared to $156.9 million for the same period in 2010. The increase was driven by higher net income; partially offset by an increased investment in working capital, in particular factory inventory levels supporting business growth. Total long-term debt at September 30, 2011 was $100.0 million compared to $200.0 million a year ago. The Company's debt-to-total capital ratio was 17 percent at September 30, 2011, compared to 40 percent for the same period in 2010. Cash and cash equivalents were $335.7 million at September 30, 2011 compared to $264.5 million for the same period in 2010.

2-for-1 stock split completed during the quarter
During the 2011 third quarter, the Board of Directors declared a two-for-one split of the Company's outstanding shares of common stock. On September 12, 2011 Polaris shareholders received one additional share of common stock for each share they held of record at the close of business on September 2, 2011. All share and per share information for all periods presented have been adjusted to give effect to the stock split.

Fox Racing Shox set to unleash revolutionary new products at the 2011 SEMA Show

FOX Racing Shox is Redefining Ride Dynamics. Renowned the world over for leading the off-road industry in shock design and development, FOX is positioned to unleash several revolutionary new products at the 2011 SEMA Show. The FOX booth #34111 is located in the South Hall Upper Level in the Truck, SUV, and Off Road Hall. Be sure to pick up the all-new 2012 FOX Racing Shox Truck, SUV, and Off Road Race Catalog along with the new easy find application guides, all available at the booth. One-on-one appointments during the show can be prearranged by emailing or calling 619-768-1800.

New for 2012 and featured at the FOX booth and in the SEMA New Products Showcase are the all-new Performance Series shocks which boasts a starting retail price of $127.50. This all-new line-up delivers our race-dominating performance in an affordable, hassle-free, bolt-on package for all popular trucks and SUVs. They feature a one-piece, metal-impacted aluminum body that dissipates heat faster than conventional steel. Inside, an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) separates oil from a high-pressure nitrogen chamber. These new features provide an easy, bolt-on, application-specific performance package that will deliver a comfortable ride that is capable of handling the roughest road conditions.

FOX will also be displaying the new External Cooling System (ECS)—code-named “Cactus Cooler”— which is available for all new and existing bypass shocks. Without employing pumps or fans, it uses the normal motion of the shock piston as it cycles up and down to pump fluid through a fully adjustable bypass check valve, which then moves the fluid into a billet aluminum and stainless steel heat sink. Effectively dropping shock temperatures over 100 degrees, your shocks work faster and last longer, providing nonstop performance.

FOX redefines ride dynamics for ATVs, mountain bikes, motocross, off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, trucks, and UTVs. In 1974, Bob Fox redefined the world of motocross suspension with the FOX AirShox and for over three decades, FOX's team of enthusiasts and professional athletes have been uniquely committed to redefining ride dynamics that improve your performance. Global Headquarters and manufacturing operations are located in Watsonville, CA, with its Offroad Division and manufacturing in Santee, CA, and a Midwest Service Center in Brainerd, MN. FOX distributes its products in more than 40 countries. 1.800.FOX.SHOX

Many off-road recreation areas and land management agencies currently limit vehicle width to 50 inches or less. This can present a problem for Polaris Ranger RZR 800 and 570 side-by-side UTV owners. Although these models meet the 50-inch-maximum trail restrictions as they come from the factory, no aftermarket wheels have been available to maintain that narrow legal width. Owners who wanted to customize their RZRs or replace damaged stock wheels with something other than OEM have been out of luck. Until now.

STI has the solution with a new “Polaris 50-Inch Trail Legal” wheel alternative that utilizes a 6+1 offset to keep the standard RZR 800 and 570 to within 50-inch allowable limits. This 6+1 STI HD2 is available in 12x7 and 14x7 sizes with the Polaris 4/156 bolt pattern. No other aftermarket wheel is offered in these specifications.

This same wheel will also benefit owners of Polaris Sportsman XP 850 and 550 ATVs. It’s the only aftermarket option that keeps these models close to OEM dimensions (adding just two inches to overall width), which still provides plenty of clearance for most aftermarket tires and keeps them tucked in under the fenders to maintain good splash protection.

And best of all, the STI Polaris 50-Inch Trail Legal HD2 wheel provides much more than optimal sizing. This lightweight 8-spoke wheel is a real head-turner, featuring a durable matte black finish with bright machined accents, topped with a tough matte clear coat. Like all STI HD Alloy series wheels, the surprisingly affordable HD2 comes with a lifetime structural warranty, thanks in large part to the HD2’s unique inner and outer heavy-duty wheel lip reinforcement. The HD2 is as strong as it is attractive, boasting load ratings of 700 lb. for the 12-inch size and 800 lb. for the 14-inch size. A matching HD logo wheel cap is included with every wheel.

STI Polaris 50-Inch Trail Legal wheels are available at finer ATV/UTV dealers everywhere, through MTA Distributing. For more information, to place an order or to locate an STI dealer, visit or call: East (318) 255-0049; West (951) 272-0971.

Custom Creations Takes on the 6th Annual Powderpuff Race for the Cure

Custom Creations had a great race weekend… We brought our 1931 Custom Creations built Kawasaki Teryx to race for the Cure and raise money for Breast cancer research in the 6th annual M.O.R.E Powderpuff race in sunny Barstow, CA. There were a total of 124 entries in this years race, consisting of 2 races morning and afternoon. We were set to leave in the morning race.

Fully equipped with our King Shocks, GBC Grim Reapers outfitted in my pink OMF beadlocks, fresh Redline oil and our Pink themed Starside Paint job with the pink stickers from Rialto Trophy and our new 44 inch LED lightbar from Tribal Whips, we were ready to rock!!! “Let’s go kick cancer’s butt” My whole team was very excited and confident we could bring home a win!! We got off the line at 8:47 am. 17 minutes behind the first car off the line, we started 5th in our class (aka dead last) with a 20 second delay in between cars, we were finally off and running… By mile one we had moved up to 4th position, mile 3 into 3rd and had the leaders in our sight.. just about mile 5 we moved into 2nd and was on the tail of the leader, we grabbed and passed her along with 3 other cars from other classes at mile 7. She quickly passed us again when we grabbed a path with a flipped over truck. We were on her tail and in her dust until around mile 18. We took an easy clear path to pass and kept on… from then on we were just passing other vehicles in all other classes. We continued on pulling our lead time. We stopped for an amazing 30 second pit stop for fuel, some water to drink and got a clean visor… we didn’t have to stop again until my last lap for a quick visual, I felt something and they cleared me to go in about 10 seconds and sent us on our way! Our 112 miles was pretty uneventful besides having some fun passing lots of cars… Tammy and I were giggling the whole time…we were only passed by one car the whole race which was running in class 5… were able to make 4 laps because we came through the start finish line at 11:09 beating the 11:30 cutoff to be sent for 1 more lap…We ended finishing with a commanding 9 minute and 25 second lead in our class… We completed 112 miles in 3 hours and 11 minutes. And ended up with a victorious 3rd Overall in the entire 1st race. We started 57th out of 61 vehicles. Again UTV’s have proven to be able to hold there own in the rocky desert terrain…

We had a great day.. motor didn’t even hiccup, not even a drop of oil out of the breather set up… you rock!! the GBC Grim Reapers were perfect not even a slit in the tires, King Shocks sucked up Barstow’s nasty terrain like it was nothing, and of course the Wicked Bilt power Steering made for an easy handle and a comfy ride in my PRP suspension seats and my Pro Armor Race inspired seatbelts.

Thank you again to my wonderful husband for building such an amazing Teryx for me to race, I never felt that I had to drive her hard at all, I had plenty left and available if needed. Rialto Trophy for all my cute pink graphics, Starside Designs for a sweet paintjob, Web cam and Cp Pistons for a flawless motor combo and redline oil for the best oil ever. Thank you to all my supporters and sponsors, Rosa Maria’s Mexican restaurant, IMS Metals, OMF performance, B and B Powdercoating, Pink Divas, V force John, Pro Armor and Summer Brothers Racing, Dil Inspection Labs, GBC Tires, Redline Oil, Wicked Bilt, King Shocks, Web Cam, Custom Creations, Tribal Whips, PRP, Starside Designs, UTV, Twisted Images Ink and Dirty Clothing, thank you to for hooking us up with some great action photos!

Thank You to all my friends and family who came to pit and support such a great cause and Tammy for getting back in the seat with me….

Summer is not over yet, and neither is the action at ERX Motor Park as Arctic Cat brings the all-new, pure sport Wildcat side-by-side to ERX for a day of demo rides on a specially prepared track. Inspired by the unrelenting terrain experienced in the legendary Baja 1000 off-road race, the bad to bone Wildcat is the most potent pure sport off-road side-by-side in the industry, and now is your chance to experience it first hand.

Powered by a 1000cc V-twin, the Arctic Cat Wildcat is literally race ready out of the box, thanks to its full perimeter frame, 13-inches of ground clearance, and a whopping 17-inches of suspension travel. Adding comfort and control to the wild beast is electronic power steering, contoured bucket seats, tube-framed doors, and oversized digital/analog display.

Gates will open at 9:00am and demo ride opportunities will run throughout the day till 5:00pm. The Red Snack Shack will be serving food and beverages courtesy of the Otsego Holiday Inn. This is quite possibly the first Wildcat consumer demo ride opportunity in North America; don’t miss it. Please note, you must be 18-years of age and in possession of a valid drivers license in order to participate.
