TRACTION FOR THE MASSES: STI’S ALL-NEW SILVERBACK-XLITE

STI Tire & Wheel is thrilled to announce the release of its all-new Silverback-XLite. Mud enthusiasts around the country spoke, and we listened. This new tire is based on one of the most successful mud tires of all time—the Gorilla Silverback—but the XLite is more accessible and useful to more riders.

The Silverback-XLite takes most of the features of the original Silverback and puts them in a lighter and more value-oriented package. It still delivers maximum traction in deep mud from its distinctive, aggressive, widely spaced tread pattern, but with less bulk. The lugs range from 1.125 to 1.250 inches tall depending on tire size. This allows for smoother, more versatile performance when not slinging mud in your favorite bog. It’s easier on the machine, and when comparing costs, it’s also much easier on the budget. This tire was rolled out at the recent High Lifter Mud Nationals in Texas and was an instant hit, selling out as fast as they could be brought out.

STI’s rugged 6-ply Silverback-XLite debuts in 11 sizes: 25x8-12, 25x10-12, 26x9-12, 26x11-12, 27x9-12, 27x11-12, 26x9-14, 26x11-14, 27x10-14, 28x10-14 and 30x10-14. This sizing is ideal for most popular utility/4WD ATVs and side-by-side UTVs. All of these sizes are now available except the 26x9-14 and 26x11-14, which will be coming soon.

STI Silverback-XLite tires are available at finer ATV/UTV dealers everywhere. For more information, visit www.stitireandwheel.com.

Nic Granlund back on top at WORCS

In only his third ever SXS race Granlund claims his first victory beating 17 other competitors in the super competitive SXS production 850 class at Round four of the WORCS racing series in surprise Arizona.

As Nic is beginning a new venture into the SXS world he has chosen the WORCSs series to hone his driving skills.

The WORCS series has grown tremendously in the UTV market, At round two it was almost a total of 70 entries between the classes.

After not competing in round one due to not having a UTV to race, Nic chose to begin at round two in Primm Nevada.

Beginning by complying to all the safety rules including a Pro Armor five point harness and racing a completely stock Polaris RZR S with the exception of a set of FOX 2.0 shocks, Nic was ready to go racing .
After finishing an impressive fourth place in his first ever SXS race Nic was looking forward to the new challenge.

As round three at crazy horse campgrounds in Lake Havasu came around Nic was still learning about the car.
At this point Nic was pleased to start working with STI tires and wheels as it will be a great relationship for the season.

After breaking a belt in testing Nic decided to upgrade the clutch system. After some broken parts Nic drove to round three with a car in pieces.

Thanks to some fellow competitors and the great crew at Dragonfire racing allowing Nic to borrow some parts from them so that he could compete in the race, Nic's pit crew, Mike G and Ted K worked feverishly to get the car ready for the race.

As the race started Nic was running in fifth place and made some moves and managed to get into third place. As the first lap was coming to an end Nic got caught in a unexpected rut and rolled a car over on its side.
While other competitors drove by some spectators came to assist and rolled the car back onto its wheels. At this point Nic put the hammer down and drove as smooth and hard as he could making up time and finishing a respectable fifth place.

As round four was getting closer Nic decided to do some engine upgrades to be more competitive. Nic contacted longtime sponsor CT racing to come up with a game plan, Between NGR (Nic Granlund Racing) and CT a great package was selected. To finish it off a Dragonfire exhaust system was installed.
In the week prior Mike G with got tools racing was an incredible help in getting the car ready for round four of the works racing series.

Heading to the race with some brand-new STI tires and bead- lock wheels and fresh Torco synthetic oil in the engine Nic was excited for the weekend.

During Friday's practice Nic was geting the car dialed in and with the great help from Rick at the Fox shox trackside support did some final tuning on the shocks.

"Race day"
When the green flag drops Nic goes into the first turn in fourth position, Then within the next few turns Nic moves in to third place. The course was over 6 miles with lots of tight turns and fast straightaways, In the back section the leader made a mistake and sliped back to 3rd .

Nic was now in second the as new leader pulled a slight advantage, Nic put his head down and made up some great time, coming into the MX section Nic was right on the rear bumper of the leading car, A short while later Nic made a move and took over the lead. At that point Nic's Dragonfire racing teammate in the 999 drove hard and aggressively to take over the lead.

As the leader was pushing hard, Nic was keeping a steady and controlled pace.

Coming back into the MX-section the 999 car had pulled a few seconds advantage but then suffered a mechanical failure and Nic assumed the lead again. Over the next few laps the Fox 2.0 Shox and STI Black Diamond tires worked great as Nic drove mistake free and had a great flow going.
As the final lap was ending Nic made no mistakes and cruised to take the win.

To finish off a great weekend Nic decided to race his quad in the 40+ A/Expert ATV class on Sunday.
The race went off without a hitch and Nic took first place in the 40+ class, Also managing to beat all of the 30+ A riders whom started 30 sec ahead.

Nic would like to thank Mike Geiger for all his help before, during and after the races.

Nic would also like to thank his sponsors.

STI BLACK DIAMONDS ON TRACK FROM COAST TO COAST

STI Tire & Wheel’s ultra-versatile cross terrain radial tire, the Black Diamond, is proving to be just as competent on race courses as it is on rocks, mud, sand and snow. At tracks from one end of the country to another, side-by-side UTV drivers are realizing how much of a performance advantage the Black Diamond can provide.

For example, in the most recent World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS) event at Speed World MX in Surprise, Arizona, Nic Granlund took his STI Black Diamond-equipped Polaris RZR to a convincing victory in the highly competitive SxS Production 850 class. This former quad racing star from Las Vegas topped a field of 18 cars in a race that lasted just over 41 minutes. For this race Granlund had his Black Diamonds mounted on STI’s brand-new HD Alloy Beadlock wheels—a smashing debut for the groundbreaking product.

With three top-five finishes in four events, Granlund now holds fourth place in the class point standings (and he didn’t even compete in the opening round).

On the opposite side of the country, John Yokley is showing how well the Black Diamond works in the woods. Driving a Polaris RZR XP 900 for Big Country Powersports, Yokley is enjoying considerable success in Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) racing. He and co-driver Jarrod McClure got their feet wet in UTV racing in this series—which takes place at selected GNCC events—during the first round in Washington, Georgia. They placed seventh overall out of 46 entries, also good for seventh in the XC1 Modified class. That result was nearly duplicated at the next round in Union, South Carolina, where Big Country placed eighth overall and again seventh in class in an extremely dry and dusty, hour-long race. Thanks to this consistent performance and tire reliability, the team currently stands a promising sixth place in season points.

Shooting back to the western end of the nation, the UTV racing effort of Auburn Extreme Powersports continues to impress with its own impeccable RZR XP 900. As you may recall, this team made a splash at the recent King of the Hammers event. The car was then entered in a Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) short course event at Prairie City in northern California, where it had a highly competitive battle in progress until breaking a CV joint late in the race. For an entertaining in-car video of this adventure, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwZ_MfoT1Yg.

It’s activities like these—putting a product through the wringer like only racing can—that provides tremendous feedback to STI engineers to help make future tires and wheels even better. We’d say our current level of development is already in the winner’s circle.

STI tires and wheels are available at finer ATV/UTV dealers everywhere, through MTA Distributing. For more information, to place an order or to locate an STI dealer, visit www.stitireandwheel.com or call: East (318) 255-0049; West (951) 272-0971.

R.J. Anderson Continues to DOMINATE Production 1000 at WORCS

2012 WORCS Series Mid Season Report

Riverside, CA 4/19/12 – 4 rounds into the 8 round WORCS series, R.J. Anderson and his Walker Evans Racing / Polaris Off-Road Vehicles RZR XP 900 is now firing on all cylinders.  Thanks in large part to sponsors Walker Evans Racing, Holz Racing Products, Kroyer Race Engines and of course Polaris Industries, R.J. and his team have found their groove and now have taken a commanding points lead in the elite Production 1000 UTV class at the WORCS racing series.

After taking a 2nd place finish in the series opener at Glen Helen and a disappointing 6th place at round 2 in Primm, R.J. has since gone back to back with dominating 1st place performances at Lake Havasu and most recently at Speedworld in Surprise, AZ. After taking the lead in lap 1 at Surprise R.J. put it into cruise control and burned off the laps holding onto the lead and putting him into a prime spot for a points championship in his first full season competing at WORCS.

“My team and I have worked hard behind the scenes to adapt our RZR XP 900 to the WORCS style of racing.  The most noticeable change came this last weekend as we came out to compete with a completely new shock set up.  It was drastically different then any set up I had raced on up to this point but in the end it was exactly what this car needed. The 90 ft table-top jump at Speedworld was no match for my Walker Evans Racing / Polaris / Holz RZR XP 900.  I count the days between rounds as I have so much fun running the track against these competitors.  There are some really fast guys we are racing against so it makes it a lot of fun.”

4 rounds remain in the series.  Anderson holds the points lead with 84 points.  The next closest racer has 72 so its still a battle, one that the Walker Evans Racing team looks forward too!

DFR Teams Top Podiums At Big Buck GNCC & WORCS Speed World Rounds

Mesa, AZ - April 19, 2012 - Fresh from sweeping the Pro SxS and UTV Sportsman classes at the legendary Mint 400 a couple weeks ago, DragonFire UTV teams were in action again this past weekend... and topping the podium once again as well. National Guard/Polaris/DragonFire racer William Yokley remained perfect in GNCC competition with a commanding win of the Big Buck GNCC in South Carolina, while out West, big Nic Granlund put his Polaris on the podium, winning the WORCS race held at Speed World MX in Surprise, Arizona.

Conditions were hot, dusty and dry in the Carolina woods, but Yokley kept his cool. After starting in 2nd place, Yokley passed for the lead before the end of the first 4-mile loop and immediately began padding his lead. By the end of the hour-long race, he cruised to a 2 ½ minute cushion! Yokley finished first overall out of 37 entries and first in the XC1 modified field of 19 pro racers.

"Seems like Yokley's competition was feeling the heat," quips DragonFire Sales Manager Brice Ginn. "Seriously, we are proud to supply William with the components he needs to win," he says. In addition to a DragonFire Quick-Release Steering Wheel and DragonBack Seats, DragonFire has supplied the front suspension to the National Guard/Polaris team for the past couple of GNCC championship seasons. Ginn adds, "The Yokley Woods Edition RZR XP suspension kit continues to be a game changer in the GNCC series."

It was also game on for the WORCS series in the Arizona desert. Once again heat was a consideration, so the SxS classes ran a night race at Speed World. Despite the dusk, former ATV and Supermoto stand-out Nic Granlund translated his skills to the SxS side, becoming a leading light for DragonFire in the process. In only his third UTV race ever, Big Nic won the SxS Production 850 class at the fast Speed World track. This vaulted the Las Vegas-based racer into 4th in the overall standings, still in easy striking distance of the WORCS championship.

"DragonFire is happy to help Nic make the transition to the SxS scene a success," says Ginn. According to Ginn, Granlund's skills on an ATV and Supermoto bike give him a great advantage when it comes to reading the terrain, and it is the DragonFire components that really heat things up! "Nic's racer features the full array of DragonFire Racing accessories, starting with our DragonSkin number plates/personal I.D. system and ranging through the quick-release steering wheel kit. Performance advantages include DragonFire's PyroPak Fuel Controller and Auto-Tune, High pressure radiator cap, clutch kit/drive belt and RZR full exhaust system."

The next WORCS race will be May 11th at Race Town 395 in Adelanto, California. The next GNCC SxS race will be the Mountaineer Run in Masontown, West Virginia, on May 26. Muzzys Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Crowley Sweeps VORRA Season Opener in Teryx

Irvine, Calif. (April 18, 2012) – Throughout last week, large storm fronts inundated the southwestern states drenching everything in their path while Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx® race teams prepped their UTVs for battle. At Prairie City OHV in Folsom, Calif., Muzzys Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jon Crowley got off to a great start at the Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) season opener by successfully navigating the muddy course to win the first two rounds of the series.

Adapt and Overcome
While the VORRA event organizers originally planned to host the opening rounds over the course of two days, after a week of torrential downpours, the course was so saturated they decided to cancel racing altogether on Saturday to give the track a chance to dry out. With two full rounds to complete Sunday, racers had to prepare mentally and mechanically, for a long day of racing. Each round consisted of three motos, where the winner would be determined by the overall score. After three grueling motos through the mud, Crowley finished 3-1-1 to earn his first win of the series.

“The course was incredibly muddy,” said Crowley. “It was just a thick, clumpy, soupy mess. Instead of racing on a one-mile course for six laps, they had to eliminate half the course and changed the race to 12 laps. Many of the Class 11 and Class 9 vehicles were getting stuck because they were only two-wheel drive and sliding all over the place. With my Teryx I just powered around them like stationary obstacles. I knew from the beginning it was going to be a race of attrition. It was kind of like a desert race where you have to beat the desert before you can beat your competitors.”
Competitive Advantage
While many short-course UTVs are very specialized race machines, Crowley feels the versatility of his Teryx was the key to his success in the VORRA at Folsom. After seeing how saturated the track had become by race day, Crowley decided to make some last minute adjustments to better adapt his Teryx to the challenging course. The strategy clearly paid off as he went on to sweep the opening weekend of the VORRA season opener, taking wins in the first two rounds of the series.

“My Teryx is extremely versatile and the Muzzys powerplant is a torque-monster,” said Crowley. “It can go desert racing, rock crawling, short-course, and I can go play in the dunes. It’s not just a race car, it’s a play car. On Sunday, I made some crucial last minute changes like going with a larger, 27.5” Pit Bull Rocker tire because of the soupy terrain. I knew it wasn’t a good short-course tire, but I needed to get the Teryx off the ground and needed a tire that flung mud instead of packing it. I also set my ride height a little higher so I wouldn’t be dragging through the mud. The bigger tires and additional clearance made a huge difference. Even with all that mud weighing it down, the Teryx just powered right through it.”

CST Announces New SxS/UTV Sizes for Clincher Tire

CST is proud to announce the availability of six additional sizes for the Clincher, the flagship tire in the CST utility ATV lineup.

The Clincher’s aggressive tread pattern and its radial construction have already proven to deliver a thrilling, yet plush ride for ATV riders, and the following new sizes will allow UTV and side x side riders the same performance benefits:

Front: 26x9.00R12; 27x9.00R12; 26x9.00R14
Rear: 26x11.00R12; 27x11.00R12; 26x11.00R14

An interlocking “C” tread design with more widely spaced shoulder lugs means that the Clincher excels on hardpack and intermediate terrain, but is more than adequate for looser terrain as well. Riders can expect smooth, predictable performance as the Clincher’s radial construction absorbs jarring feedback from rocks, roots, braking bumps and other obstacles on the trail. The new Clincher rears have maximum load capacities of more than 1,000 pounds, making the Clincher suitable for even the heaviest side x sides!

Riders can purchase the Clincher from their favorite local powersports dealer or online retailer. Dealers should inquire with their distributors to order inventory.

Yokley Racing's Big Buck GNCC Side by Side Race Report

Union, South Carolina, April 14, 2012

National Guard / Polaris / Coastal / Yoshimura / DragonFire / Yokley Racing Team driver William Yokley finished 1st Overall and 1st in the Side by Side XC1 Modified Class. National Guard / Polaris / Coastal / Yoshimura / Yokley Racing Team driver Scott Kiger finished 4th Overall and 4th in the same class. There were 37 total entries with 19 XC1 Modified teams in the race today. William’s guest passenger was his wife Tina, and Scott’s passenger was Joe Waligora.

Summary – Side by Side

The GNCC Series moved on to the Big Buck in South Carolina for Round 2 of the Side by Side machines. Since the area has had very little rain leading up to the race, the track was very dusty. The course was rough with lots of ruts, and a good start would be very important. Other than the dry conditions, the weather was great with temps in the low 80’s.

The start flag dropped and after the first few turns, Yokley was in 2nd place with Kiger in 5th. Yokley made a pass for the lead in the first open field section where he could really open up the Yoshimura tuned Polaris. He then proceeded to open up a sizable gap heading into the 2nd lap of the four mile course. Meanwhile, Scott Kiger was mired behind a nose to tail group of machines which were churning up clouds of vision blocking dust. At times, he had to come to a complete stop in order to see the course. Once he worked his way past those machines into some cleaner air, he was a considerable distance behind teammate Yokley.

Even though he was now turning lap times as fast as Yokley, he could not close the gap. Kiger finished in 4th place on adjusted time. Yokley was able to build a nice gap over the field, and controlled the pace while taking care of his Ranger RZR XP900. He finished the one hour race with more than a 2 ½ minute lead. Both of the National Guard / Polaris / Coastal machines ran and handled great.

The next GNCC Side by Side race is the Mountaineer Run in Masontown West Virginia on May 26. The team is scheduled to display the race cars and team hauler at the National Guard presentation at Thunder over Louisville Kentucky on Saturday April 21. This is one of the largest air and fireworks shows in the country, and is the signature event leading up to the KY Derby the first week of May.

HOLZ RACING WELL REPRESENTED AT WORCS ROUND 4

Lynden, Washington (April 16, 2012) – In a field of 31 starters, RJ Anderson continued to wow both fans and racers at Saturday’s Round 4 of the World Off Road Championship Series at Speed World MX in Surprise, Arizona. RJ drove his Holz Racing-built RZR XP 900 to a first place finish, barely two seconds faster than the second place finisher. Anderson’s win for Holz/Walker Evans Racing maintains his lead in Series Points.

Mark Holz pushed his HRP Commander 1000 to the hole shot Saturday, then advanced his lead until a front driveline failure left him with rear-drive only on a wet, slick course. Without four-wheel traction, Mark pitted for an extended repair and gave up his lead. Holz ultimately finished 18th, seven minutes after RJ Anderson.

Todd Seaver raced well in his Holz Racing/Carl’s Cycle Sales RZR XP 900 and placed fifth. Josh Frederick pulled double duty for his Can-Am/Motoworks team, first taking second in the Pro ATV Class on his Holz-equipped DS450, then racing his Holz-built Commander 1000 to a 10th place finish. Jake Greco and Mitch Guthrie Jr. finished 12th and 22nd respectively in their Holz-equipped RZR XPs.

The next round of the World Off-Road Championship Series will be held May 11-13 at Race Town 395 in Adelanto, CA. The Coastal/HRP RZR will be competing in the Best in the Desert Silver State 300 May 4 -6.

Rigid Industries Releases Innovative New LED Light; The Single Row Mini

Rigid Industries, the world leader in cutting edge forward projecting L.E.D. technology, announces their newest product, the Single Row Mini, or SR-M. The SR-M combines a new lightweight, compact design with the same ultra efficient patented optic systems Rigid Industries is known for. The new light was engineered and designed for a simple installation that allows for mounting in nearly any application.

Rigid Industries has once again revolutionized the way the world sees at night, this time in the smallest and lightest fixture we have ever produced, the Single Row Mini. Encased in a magnesium housing, the light weighs in at an astonishing 7 ounces, including hardware. At 3 inches wide by 1.75 inches tall, the SR-M fits in the palm of your hand. The hybrid spot optic in the SR-M will project light nearly 1000’; while the specter optic will produce an unbelievable 1050 raw lumens. The SR-M will also be available with a diffusion lens, a feature that separates the beam of light outwards at a 60-degree angle, allowing for brilliant area lighting.
“The Single Row Mini is something all of us at Rigid Industries have been dreaming about since day one”, says Rigid Industries VP of Sales and Marketing, Taylor Anderson. “To create an extremely compact light that is highly efficient yet remarkably bright is an engineering feat. We are very proud to say this dream is now reality and available to the public through our network of dealers and distributors.”

High-powered LED lighting has never come in a smaller more efficient package. The SR-M draws as low as 0.63 amps and can run on any 7 to 36 volt system. The light comes with the Rigid Industries limited lifetime warranty and world famous customer service.

The Single Row Mini will also be available in Marine Grade, under our M-Series family of lights. This includes a 3 stage durable UV 3800 powder coat, ASTMB117 Salt/Fog and IP68 certifications as well as stainless steel hardware. The M-Series SR-M will be available mid to late May.

A Flush Mount version of the SR-M, in both marine and standard housings, will be available in late May as well. The flush mount brings efficient lighting to applications where space or appearance is a concern. The flush mount option allows for a whole new look while also adding flexibility during installation. All you need is a flat surface and the ability to wire to it.

BRC MOURNS THE LOSS OF A FOUNDER & RECREATION CHAMPION

BOISE, ID (April 6, 2012) -- The OHV community joins together today in mourning the loss of one of its greatest activists. On Thursday, April 5th, 2012, Adena Cook--one of the original founders of the BlueRibbon Coalition--passed away.
Adena Cook
Adena will be sorely missed, both by those that knew her, and by the recreation community to whom she gave so much. She will forever be in our hearts and thoughts, and her legacy of dedication, perseverance and determination will live on.

Ms. Cook was amongst those that aided founder, Clark Collins, in turning the Idaho Public Land User's Association into a national organization, re-titled the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC). She served as the newly created group's volunteer secretary until 1989, at which point she became the group's first Public Lands Director, and the second paid staff member.

Adena worked tirelessly in her role as Public Lands Director for the coalition and was a strong advocate for protecting recreational access to public lands. She was among the first to establish the ties to land-managers and agencies that still help BlueRibbon in its vital role to this day. She also had a pivotal role in the efforts of Clark Collins to create a network of grassroots groups and individuals. A network that has become the heart and soul of the organization as it is today.

Always pushing to modernize the Coalition and advance our methods of communication, Adena was instrumental in the Coalition's keeping up with the pace of technology. In her own words, " we were growing, achieving, and improving grassroots recreation activism, communication technology was changing the world. It primed all those pumps in all those springs that flowed into the creeks and rivers. We were among the first to use every bit of it...our timing was right on."

 Adena Cook: Snowmobiler.
Though she enjoyed a wide variety in her recreation, Adena was aways an avid snowmobiler.

As part of her relentless drive to improve the Coalition and make it into a powerful tool for recreational advocacy, Adena initiated some of the earliest contacts with the legal firm of Moore-Smith-Buxton & Turcke, the firm that would eventually be integral to the BlueRibbon Legal Program.
In the Coalition's first Supreme Court victory-defeating a lawsuit filed against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)-Adena would later say, "I could never have imagined that, a few years after those meager beginnings, we would participate in a case that won before the Supreme Court. Our legal team is now one of the most important parts of BRC."

In 2002, Adena Cook retired as Public Lands Director, but stayed on in a volunteer capacity as the Coalition's Senior Policy Advisor. She will be deeply missed by those that worked closely with her:

“Adena was absolutely crucial to the BlueRibbon Coalition’s evolution as a nationally recognized recreation advocacy group. Her hard work and dedication was an inspiration to me personally and to grass roots recreation access activists across the nation. No one has had more of a positive impact on back-country recreation than Adena.” Clark Collins, BRC founder

"Adena was a true innovator in the field of recreation advocacy. I feel a deep personal loss at the news of her passing. Adena was my friend, mentor, and colleague and I will miss her. The recreation community lost an iconic champion. I mourn with many others today at this news." Don Amador, BRC Western Representative

"The public lands community will miss a pioneer and champion in Adena Cook. Her keen insight helped create BlueRibbon's legal program and give recreationists a voice they lacked before agencies and courts. She was quick, efficient and genuine in her thoughts and was respected even by those with differing views. Not only recreationists but the public lands community should take a quiet moment to reflect on the gifts Adena brought and the legacy she hoped to build."Paul Turcke, lead counsel for the BRC Legal Team

"It is a sad day. We are all the better for having known Adena. Few ever achieve the level of excellence she demonstrated in her life and in her work. I am proud to say that generations to come will share the benefit of her efforts. I am blessed to have been able to call her my friend and colleague." Greg Mumm, BRC Executive Director

"I believe there is a bit of Adena's legacy in all of us who remain behind working in advocacy roles to keep the public lands open for people to use. I will carry with me the knowledge and skills she helped me develop over the years. Others will benefit through the years from her research and from the environment created by her presence. Despite her dogged tenacity, she was every inch a lady....all the time, on her beloved snowmobile or in the courtroom and the boardroom. She continues to be a role model into the future and I will miss her." Joni Mogstad, BRC President

Reflecting on her short biography on the BlueRibbon Coalition website, we cannot help but find it woefully inadequate to describe the wonderful, vibrant woman who had such a large hand in the Coalition's creation and growth. Therein she states her goal as being, "To shape public policy in support of diverse recreation on public lands." In truth, her goal was the same as that of the Coalition itself. It is an ongoing goal. She achieved it with grit and determination, and we will continue to achieve it in her memory.

Rest in peace, Adena. You remain with us forever.

CAN-AM ATV AND SIDE-BY-SIDE RACERS POST VICTORIES IN GNCC RACING, TQRA MX SERIES

Valcourt, Québec, April 3, 2012 – Can-Am® X-Team racers earned five 4x4 class overall wins this past weekend at the Steele Creek Can-Am / Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series event and also posted three class victories in the Texhoma Quad Racing Association (TQRA) series. In the GNCC series, Kevin Trantham led the way, winning the 4x4 Lites class and finishing third overall on the morning podium aboard his 2012 Can-Am Outlander™ 500. Cody and Hunter Miller each piloted a Can-Am vehicle to victories at round two of the TQRA motocross series held in Geary, Okla.
“The Steele Creek GNCC was a brutal, challenging course, but our 4x4 class racers truly performed well aboard their Can-Am ATVs,” stated Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Michael Swift and Bryan Buckhannon are so evenly matched aboard their 2012 Outlander 800s, they really put on a show racing wheel-to-wheel with each other the entire two-hour race. I was glad to see Swift finally get his first win of 2012, but I'm sure the two riders will have another battle at the next race in South Carolina. Kevin Trantham put in one of his most impressive performances ever aboard his Outlander 500, by winning his class and earning a spot on the morning overall podium. In TQRA, I was pleased to see both Cody and Hunter Miller post some hard-fought victories over the weekend with both their Can-Am ATVs and side-by-side machines.”

Steele Creek GNCC
Round three of the Can-Am / GNCC series at Steele Creek in Morganton, N.C., not only featured one of the series toughest courses, but the event also had a purple theme in support of the March of Dimes charitable organization. One lucky winner took home a new Can-Am DS90™ X® that was donated as the grand prize for the fundraising raffle.

Trantham posted his third consecutive 4x4 Lites class win to start the 2012 GNCC season. The North Carolina native dominated his class, winning by more than 12 minutes. In the process, he also passed enough riders to earn third place on the morning overall podium.

“We had a good race. I got out front and kept pulling away,” said Trantham. “It felt good to be on the (overall) podium and I hope I can continue to do that all season long.”

The victory came down to the final few turns in the 4x4 Open class. UXC Racing / Can-Am X-Team racer Michael Swift won his first race of the season edging fellow Can-Am X-Team racer and current class points leader Bryan Buckhannon aboard his ATV Parts Plus backed Outlander 800R. Cliff Beasley, riding his Team UXC Racing / Can-Am X-Team Renegade® 800R, won his third straight U2 class event. Can-Am X-Team racer Forrest Whorton also improved to a perfect 3-for-3 in 2012 with his 4x4 Senior class win. Tanner Bowles has now won two 4x4 Novice class races in a row on his Can-Am after his victory in North Carolina.

Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450™ racer Chris Bithell finished sixth in the XC1 Pro class. He led lap two, but fell off the pace after making a pit stop a lap later. He’s currently fifth in the XC1 points race with 10 rounds remaining on the schedule.

TQRA
Brothers Cody and Hunter Miller battled all weekend at round two of the TQRA series held at RAW MX in Geary, Okla. Cody Miller won twice aboard his Can-Am DS 450, posting wins in the Open Expert and Pro-Am classes. Hunter was second in both classes, however, he won the UTV Open class. After second in moto one, Hunter drove his Can-Am Commander™ 1000 X® to victory in moto two to beat Cody for the class overall.

“We’ve been having a blast racing the Commander. It handles well and has tons of power. It is fun to drive, and we have been having a lot of success with it,” said Cody Miller. “I had good motos today and I put Can-Am on the podium with both the quad and the side-by-side.”

Other DS 450 amateur class podium finishers were, Jeff Reeves (third, Over 30A), Michael Bettis (third, +25), Gary Schlentz (second, Open C) and Bruce Rowe (second, Over 40B).
