I recently took our 2012 Arctic Cat
Wildcat and got it setup to take on some rocks at Prairie City SVRA near
Sacramento. Now the stock unit would have done fine in the rocks, but I like to
push the limits a bit and see if the Wildcat could handle the addition of huge
31″ tires. While I was at it, I added a few other items that helped protect the
vehicle from the abuse that tends to be dished out when rock crawling.

Vision X Lighting Launches Optimus Lights, Setting the Bar for Distance LED Lighting
August 28, 2012 - Algona, WA - Vision X

Compared to a standard 55 watt low beam headlight reach of 88 ft. and a
standard 65 watt high beam reach of 153 ft, the Optimus propels light
further than any single 10-watt LED light fixture in existence. Optimus
lights also feature Vision X Lighting's Prime Drive technology for
integrated thermal management and dimming capabilities.
The
Optimus Series lights are available in two models, a single 10-watt LED
version and a dual 10-watt LED version, known as the Optimus Single and

multi-volt input. A mining\industrial version of the Optimus is also
available featuring a reinforced single stud fixture mount. These key
features allow the Optimus Series to be used in almost any application
including: automotive, motorcycle, ATV/UTV, marine, mining, industrial
and more.
Optimus lights come standard in a durable
black powder coat finish, but are also available in white, grey, and
chrome finishes. Initially available in only 10 degree narrow beam, 30
and 60 degree wide\flood beams will be available mid-September.
What
took an 8" Off Road Light or 60-watts of LED is now achievable using a
compact 3.5" light that can mount anywhere. The days of having to mount a
light bar, brush guard, or add unnecessary brackets are over. Optimus
lights are also available in kits as OE Fog Light replacements.
The
Optimus Series starts at just $129 for a single light, and is available
in two light kits complete with a wiring harness for only $249. The
Optimus single is available this week, and all models are expected to be

Anaheim, Calif. - August 24, 2012 - The GBC
Motorsports Heartland Challenge has grown in popularity each year since
the inaugural event in 2008 to become one of the most prestigious ATV
endurance races in the United States. The 2012 edition featured over 100
teams tackling the meticulously prepared course in every conceivable
class of ATV and UTV competition.
Racing action began Friday evening with the Motoworks Can-Am team led by Kyle Chaney taking the UTV overall win in their Can-Am Commander 1000. The Coastal Yokley Racing team led much of the 4-hour event until a huge crash crippled their RZR XP 900 and ended their race early.
Saturday morning’s youth action was highlighted by the tenacious efforts of Team Yamaha, who was able to recover for the overall win despite losing a machine and some precious race time early in the event.
GBC’s own Kory Ellis sounded the starting horn to signal the beginning of the 10-hour main event at 1:30pm on Saturday. All in attendance were treated to an instant classic as the top pro teams of Team Dirtworks and Team Yamaha engaged in a back-and-forth battle that would last well into the nighttime portion of the race.

Update on California's AB 1595 - Law Impacting UTVs
From Assemblyman Paul Cook:
I'm happy to report that the bill to begin fixing AB 1595 is now in print and available to be read online. The bill is AB 1266. I'm joined by Assemblyman Jim Nielsen and Assemblyman V. Manuel Pérez in authoring this fix. You can view the text of AB 1266 at the following link:
leginfo.ca.gov/pub/11-12/bill/asm/ab_1251-1300/ab_1266_bill_20120823_amended_sen_v98.html
This bill will do two things:
1) It eliminates the "feet flat on the floorboards" provision that would prevent children (and short adults) from riding as a passenger in a recreational off-highway vehicle.
2) It delays the implementation of the non-factory seating locations provision until July 1, 2013. While I would have liked to do a more permanent fix for this provision right now, that would require committee hearings before the Assembly and Senate Transportation Committees, which are no longer meeting at this point in the session. Both of the committees are aware of the issues with this section of the current law, however, and legislation for a more permanent fix will be moving forward in January. The delay in implementing this section will give plenty of time for the new legislation to be drafted and passed by the next legislature.
I expect AB 1266 to be voted on in the California Senate on Monday, August 27, although there is a possibility that it may be pushed back until Tuesday. I will take the bill up in the Assembly within 1-2 days of it passing the Senate. After the Assembly passes it, it will be sent to the Governor for signature. Because the Senate will be the first chamber voting on this bill, I would urge you all to contact your state senator urging them to support AB 1266. I'll continue to update you at every step of the process, and once again, I'd like to thank you all for contacting my office with your comments and concerns.
Sincerely,
Assemblyman Paul Cook
65th Assembly District

CAN-AM RACERS FIND SUCCESS IN SEVERAL OFF-ROAD RACING SERIES
![]() |
| Motoworks / Can-Am racer Kyle Chaney |
“I was pleased with the results from our Can-Am racers at three different racing series across the country. Can-Am racers ruled the Heartland Challenge. It was thrilling to see Kyle Chaney and Michael Swift each earn the hard-fought overall wins. Winning four more class titles was icing on the cake,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Josh Creamer kept rolling in the NEATV-MX series as he once again put his DS 450 out front and on top of the podium. And although we missed out on a Vegas-To-Reno victory, having both the DS 450 and Commander teams reach the podium was truly an accomplishment.”
Heartland Challenge
The Heartland Challenge had its largest attendance in the race’s five-year history with 109 entries. The endurance event, which uses a Lemans-style start, features ATV and side-by-side vehicle racing with 10- and 4-hour race times, respectively.
In the 4-hour UTV race, Chaney fought off numerous challenges to take a popular win in the UTV Open class in his Motoworks-prepped Can-Am Commander 1000 X®. Chaney got off to a slow start, but quickly worked his way through the 22-car field and into the lead pack. Just after the halfway point, Chaney inherited the lead and never relinquished it, despite a few challenges. At around 11 p.m., and with a four-minute time advantage, he drove across the finish line with the UTV Open class victory.
Swift won the Pro 4x4 Ironman class and was joined on the podium by Can-Am racers Bryan Buckhannon and Chris Robinson. Buckhannon was out front early but missed a turn and allowed Swift to take over the lead. Swift then rode for the next five hours straight before stopping for a break. A refreshed Swift resumed his race pace to outdistance Buckhannon by four laps for the overall win. D&S Racing (UTV 850 Mod), Stalker Racing (A class), Team Katers / Zakowski Motorsports (4x4 Open) and Justin Steck (Open Ironman) also earned overall class wins with Can-Am vehicles. Can-Am racers Forrest Whorton (third, Open Ironman), Sammy Joe Racing (third, B class) and Go Blue Racing (second, 4x4 Open) earned class podiums.
NEATV-MX
Creamer continued his undefeated run in both the Pro and Pro-Am classes in the NEATV-MX series this year. At Hemonds MX in Maine, Creamer rode his BCS Performance-supported DS 450 to four holeshots, four moto wins and victories in both the Pro and Pro-Am ranks. He has yet to lose in the 2012 NEATV-MX series aboard his Can-Am.
Best in the Desert
In the UTV class, brothers Jason and Derek Murray of the Murray Motorsports / Can-Am team battled with more than 20 other side-by-side vehicles on their way to an impressive finishing time and third overall on the 534-mile desert course. The Can-Am Commander pilots led a good portion of the race, but issues with a flat tire late in the race slowed their pace and allowed two other teams to pass. The Murrays repaired the tire and finished on the podium in third, earning 152 valuable points in their chase for a title.
“We were running in the lead most of the race. We had a logistics issue with a flat and lost the lead with not enough time to catch up,” said Derek Murray. “The Commander ran great, and with the third-place finish we still hold the points lead.”
With a time of 10:44:11.867, the DS 450-mounted Frederick and Zimmerman finished the Quad Pro class in third place and 12th overall on the day in the Motorcycle/Quad division.

RZRs One, Two at Vegas to Reno
Coastal Racing takes checkered flag with Jagged X’s Parks in Second
Minneapolis, Aug. 21, 2012– Best in the Desert’s Vegas to Reno race is the longest and toughest, off-road desert race in the U.S., and Polaris RZRs continued to have success despite the many challenges the course threw at them.
In the starting field of more than 20 side-by-sides for the 534-mile race, was Jagged X’s Brandon Schueler with co-pilot Cody Muir in the No. 1919 RZR XP 4 900, Jagged X’s Matt Parks, Jason Spiess and Landon Kobruck and the No. 1932 RZR XP 4 900, Jagged X’s Bill Schueler and Polaris Marketing and Sales Director Craig Scanlon in the almost-stock 1991 RZR XP 4 900, and Scott Kiger’s Holz Coastal Racing No. 1934 RZR XP driven by Kiger, Mark Holz and William Yokley.
When the dust settled, Coastal Racing would take their first Vegas to Reno win with the fastest time ever for a side-by-side in under 12 hours, and ahead of the trucks and cars. Thirty minutes later, Parks crossed the finish line second with the fastest second place finish for a side-by-side. Finishing fourth and driving the entire race himself, was Bill Schueler, with co-pilot Scanlon, and the almost-stock RZR XP 4. The No. 1991 has raced successfully all season and its fourth place finish in such a challenging race is a true testament to the ability of the RZR side-by-side vehicles. Unfortunately, five-time Vegas to Reno winner, Brandon Schueler, encountered a freak incident with the No. 1919 where a rock knocked off the oil sending unit for the oil pressure gauge and pumped oil out of the car leaving it unable to continue.
The next Best in the Desert Race is the Bluewater Desert Challenge, October 12-14, in Parker, AZ.
Jagged X is sponsored by Polaris, Falken Tire, Walker Evans Shocks, Team Industries, CR Designs, Simpson, OMF, Affordable Powdercoating, Mountain States Contracting, Muzzy’s, Pure Polaris Lubricants, UTV Underground, Vision X Lighting, Bar-T Equipment and Kroyer Racing Engines.
Coastal Racing is sponsored by Costal Drilling, Holz Racing, Walker Evans Racing, Kroyer Racing Engines, Polaris Ind. Utendorfer Design, Race Prep Sevices.

POLARIS DONATES $154,125 TO THE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT
Minneapolis (August 15, 2012) - As part of its annual summer sales meeting and its presence at the Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally, Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), Victory Motorcycles and the Company's dealers donated $154,125 to the Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP). The donation was part of Polaris' continuing relationship with the WWP, an organization that raises awareness and aids injured servicemen and women. Earlier this year, Polaris also gave away three special, blacked-out RANGER RZR XP 4 900 Side-by-Side vehicles to WWP veterans (see Polaris and the Wounded Warrior Project Give Away Unique RANGER RZR XP 4 900 Side-by-Side Vehicles).
"Our relationship with the Wounded Warrior Project allows Polaris and our dealers to support the men and women who selflessly sacrifice for our nation through their military service," said Scott Wine, Polaris Industries CEO. "We consider it an honor and a privilege to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that lends a hand to those who merit it most. We hope this donation helps these brave men and women return to the rich, active lives they truly deserve."
On the opening night of the Company's summer sales meetings, Polaris announced it would donate $25 to WWP for each rider that rode an all-terrain vehicle or Side-by-Side at the Polaris demo track, a winding set of man-made dirt trails intended to provide dealers with a chance to experience riding the latest Polaris products. That promise led to $44,500 in donations, powered by more than 1,700 demo rides.
The following week, at the 72nd edition of the legendary motorcycle rally at Sturgis, a year-long effort from Polaris-owned Victory Motorcycles and its dealers culminated when Steve Menneto, Polaris' vice president of motorcycles, announced that Victory would contribute an additional $100,000 to WWP. The money represented an incredible number of demo rides conducted throughout the year at Victory dealerships as the brand challenged consumers with the phrase "Ride One and You'll Own One," then backed it up with the promise of donations to WWP for each ride.
In addition to donations made by Polaris and Victory, the Company offered dealers the opportunity to contribute to WWP as well. More than 100 Polaris dealers combined to generously add $9,625 of their own money, bringing the donation total to $154,125.

DragonFire's "Project X" Adventure Rig Finally Revealed On TV
Mesa, AZ August 17, 2012 - After
weeks of hints at the DragonFire Blog site, all the pieces of the puzzle are
finally coming together as the ultimate Adventure UTV project vehicle is set to
appear on "Destination Polaris" Monday, August 20! Be sure to tune into the
Outdoor Channel 5 p.m. EST to see what the big secret has been this
season.
"In this episode
of Destination Polaris we're off to Arizona to hang with the guys at
DragonFire," says show host Jared Christie. "They have built the baddest
off-road machine we've ever seen... Safari style!" That's right, roof racks,
rocker panel runners, winch mounts, HiBoy doors, HeavyMetal bumpers and more all
make their debut to the DragonFire line-up on Monday night.
Maybe the
coolest new component, other than DragonFire's new fire extinguishers and trick
mounts is the racks. "Our new BackBone system makes it possible to pack a ton of
survival gear into a very small space," says DragonFire Sales & Marketing
guy, Brice Ginn. "Between the spare tire, extra gas, shovel, axe, Hi-Lift jack
and more, there is nothing that can stand in the way of our new Project X
rig!"
If you can't
tune in on Monday's premiere, Jared Christie says additional airtimes have been
set. "Destination Polaris airs on The Outdoor Channel every Monday night at 5
p.m. and 10:30 p.m. EST and Tuesdays at 2 a.m. EST." Pick up your TV
remote and dial in your DVR to record DragonFire's final pieces of the puzzle
coming together.

Pure Polaris Introduces PRO-FIT Cab Systems Featuring Total Integration with New RANGER XP 900
Pure
Polaris introduces a revolutionary line of cab accessories, designed to
be superior in every way to cab systems of the past. The new,
high-quality Lock & Ride™ PRO-FIT cab components top a long list of
innovative accessories available for the Polaris RANGER and RZR families of side-by-sides, and the all-new Scrambler XP 850 H.O. ATV.
New Lock & Ride PRO-FIT Cab Systems Feature Total Integration
The new Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cab accessories from Pure Polaris are designed for total integration with the all-new 2013 RANGER XP 900. That’s an industry first. The vehicle and its accessories were literally made for each other. From the inception of the RANGER
XP 900, the goal was to use total integration to create an
industry-leading cab of the highest quality. The vehicle is designed
around the cab, instead of the cab being designed around the vehicle.
“The new Lock & Ride PRO-FIT Accessories and the new RANGER XP
900 were developed as a single, integrated project,” said Steve
Eastman, Vice President Polaris PG&A. “This integration allows us to
provide riders with the easiest installation and the best fit and
performance they’ve ever experienced from RANGER accessories.”
The cab frame on the new 2013 RANGER XP
900 features profile tubing, providing a 360-degree sealing surface for
every cab component. Windshields, roofs, doors and rear panels follow
the shape of the vehicle, locking directly into the cab frame’s
precision contours. That eliminates gaps for a secure fit, a
better-sealing cab, game-changing fast installation and a perfect match
to the advanced styling of the new RANGER XP 900.
There are multiple combinations of cab components using different customer-driven features, allowing owners of the new RANGER XP 900 to build a cab for their particular application, desired level of comfort and protection, and budget.
The
Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cab systems offer a variety of ventilation
features, including tip-out windshields and sliding windows on doors and
rear panels. In addition, Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cabs feature industry
firsts, including power windows, automotive-style interior liners for
noise-dampening and Lock & Ride technology.
Lock & Ride PRO-FIT Cabs Take Durability To A New Level
The
new Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cab accessories are 100%
professional-grade, setting a new standard in durability and
reliability. They are made by Polaris, for Polaris. Their designs are
created and validated using the same processes used to build the Polaris
RANGER, the Hardest Working, Smoothest Riding side-by-sides in the industry.
All
Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cab components feature durable,
automotive-quality materials and construction. Canvas cabs are made with
rugged Jeep®-style material. Windshields are available in
impact-resistant polycarbonate or automotive-style, curved laminate
glass, both with 360 degree gaskets for excellent sealing. Doors feature
steel frames with quality sealing surfaces. Injection-molded door skins
use a structural web process that produces higher strength, greater
rigidity and outstanding fit. Integrated mounting points and hinges are
built-in, not added later, for a tight fit that eliminates rattles and
provides consistent sealing and operation.
Add Or Change Cab Components In Seconds
Many
Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cab components feature Polaris-exclusive Lock
& Ride technology. The new Lock & Ride PRO-FIT windshields, poly
roofs and rear panels snap directly onto the vehicle cab frame, with a
seamless fit and without tools. They lock in place quickly and easily
using pre-installed Lock & Ride PRO-FIT quarter-turn handles.
Non-Lock & Ride cab components are also easy to attach, with
mounting points integrated into the cab frame.
Change
your mind, change your accessories. Installing Lock & Ride PRO-FIT
cab components is quick and easy. So is taking them off. You can add or
remove accessories on a whim, or with the changing weather. That’s
another industry first.
Lock & Ride PRO-FIT Cab Interiors Are Up To 60% Quieter
Minimize
the noise and you maximize the enjoyment on the trail, hunt or job
site. The exclusive design of the new Lock & Ride PRO-FIT cab doors
and roofs includes available sound-absorbing liners and sound-dampening
foam. Combine that with the engine-behind-the-seat design of the new
RANGER XP 900, and sound levels inside the cab are up to 60% quieter at
idle, and 40% quieter at 20 mph.
Glacier PRO Plow System Features Hydraulics To Maximize Productivity
The new Glacier PRO Plow System is a versatile, premium-quality plow designed for the 2013 RANGER XP 900. It features Lock & Ride technology, for easy plow blade installation and removal that takes just seconds.
The
plow system is modular in design. Consumers can choose winch or
hydraulic blade lift, and manual or hydraulic blade angle. Hydraulics
and winch are controlled remotely from the operator’s seat. The Glacier
PRO Plow System features a durable, cast plow frame, heavy-duty 18 inch
steel plow blade to move a lot of snow, and up to 18-inch blade lift
height.
Polaris PRO HD Winch Are Filled With Premium Features
New
Polaris PRO HD Winches deliver durable, versatile pulling power, with
countless uses at work and during recreational riding. They are
available with a 4500 lb. rated pull, for all RANGER and RZR models.
These
durable and reliable winches have many premium features, including 50
feet of strong and easy-handling synthetic rope, and an aluminum
fairlead with built-in auto-stop technology. It turns the winch off
automatically when the pull or lift is completed and the hook reaches
the fairlead. Polaris PRO HD Winches also feature hand held remote
controls so the winch can be operated standing away from the vehicle or
in the comfort and safety of the RANGER or RZR cab.
Polaris
PRO HD winches also feature cut metal drive gears and a steel spool for
unmatched durability and reliability, a low-voltage contactor for
minimal draw on the battery, and 40% quieter spool operation.
New RZR Accessories for 2013
Owners of the RZR,
the world’s most popular sport side-by-side, also have new accessories
to choose from. Pure Polaris now offers more door options and graphics
for RZR customers, including new doors for RZR 4 models, and an expanded selection of RZR Door Wraps. New wrap options include graphics that coordinate with RZR XP and RZR LE models.
The RZR XP 4
Doors feature rugged and durable skins, backed by steel frames and
equipped with premium mounting and latching hardware. They enhance rider
ergonomics, opening fully for easy entry/exit, and their black powder
coat finish boosts the vehicle’s high-performance styling. The durable,
premium-quality 3M Door Wraps are pre-cut and adhesive-backed for easy
installation.
A new, feature-rich Lowrance GPS can be used in all RANGER and RZR
models. This durable unit features detailed, Polaris-exclusive off-road
maps as well as a wealth of precise location and travel data. The
Lowrance GPS unit is secured on a mounting system integrated on the
vehicle dash, has a high-resolution screen and has oversized controls so
a rider can operate it with gloves on.
A
new Chatterbox™ Communication System lets riders speak to each other,
talk on their smart phones and listen to music. These helmet-mounted
units provide rider-to-rider communication while off-roading, and can be
synced with smart phones so riders can answer phone calls or enjoy
their favorite tunes.
A new, custom 27 inch Dual Stack LED Light Bar adds powerful auxiliary lighting to any RANGER or RZR.
It mounts easily on a cab frame or brush guard and features 48
high-output LED lights to provide a total over 21,000 lumens of light
for working, hunting or riding.
A new racing-inspired RZR Performance
Seat features full suspension, side bolsters for maximum comfort,
waterproof construction, and cut-outs for a 4 or 5 point harness. Other
new Pure Polaris accessories to enhance comfort and convenience include
new RZR Seat Storage Box with 2.5 cu. ft. of fully sealed, true dry storage, Performance Steering Wheel, RZR Side Mirrors and more.
Accessories For The New Scrambler® XP 850 H.O.

Polaris introduces a full collection of new accessories for the
redesigned, 2013 Scrambler XP 850 H.O. The new line includes rugged
bumpers, suspension guards, cargo racks and boxes, Lock & Ride

TEAM DRAGONFIRE BACK OUT BANGING DOORS WITH THE BEST OF THEM!
Benson Bounces Back, Melville Moves Into Contention, Granlund Goes Into Third
Mesa, AZ - August 16, 2012
- After driving the wheels off his Team DragonFire RZR in the previous
round (no really, he ripped a wheel right off), Ken Benson bounced back
from that DNF to finish 2nd in the WORCS race at Cahuilla Creek MX Park. Fellow Team DragonFire pilots Nic Granlund and Kyle Melville flew into 4th and 5th place overall on the day and moved back into contention in the overall points standings.
The
pressure was on for Benson and the DragonFire crew going into round #7
of the fiercely competitive WORCS series as they thrashed to get Ken's
car ready following the disappointing DNF caused by impact with a tree
at the previous race. Despite the impossible odds, they were able to
provide a podium-worthy car. Staying true to his trademarked style, Ken
kept the pedal down and was able to work his way past a couple of UTVs
that beat him off the line on the MX section before dropping in behind
season points leader David Lytle going into the desert.
"The
desert section was extremely dusty," says Benson. "I closed the gap in
behind Lytle to gain visibility, eventually making the pass in a deep
whoop section in the desert." Try as he might, Benson couldn't catch
Justin Lambert. "I was reeling him in the desert section on each lap,
and he would pull his lead back on the straight-aways. It was nice to
see Justin take one home, he ran an excellent race and his car ran
great. He has had a tough season and most definitely earned this one!"
"The
motocross section was awesome... big jumps and technical turns," says
Benson. "Once again the DFR suspension proved itself giving us the
ability to push the car through the rough and handle the MX jumps on the
track."
While Benson was battling Lambert for the lead, big Nic Granlund motored into 4th
place. Long-time team driver Kyle Melville was still coming to grips
with his new Kawasaki Teryx. Kyle kept turning fast and consistent lap
times as he worked his way up through the pack. His calculated and
methodical approach ultimately earned him a 5th place overall finish on the weekend.
After the dust settled at Cahuilla Creek, Team DragonFire finds Nic Granlund 3rd and tied with Kyle Melville in 4th respectively. Despite patches of bad luck throughout the season, Ken Benson is holding on to 7th which is impressive. Nic, Ken and Kyle are all showing that they have what it takes to go out and take care of business.
With only one round left in the 2012 WORCS Racing season, the DragonFire drivers show no sign of slowing down. Click on www.dragonfireracing.com

FOX Creates the Next Level in Sport UTV Suspension
For more than three decades, FOX has been the industry leader in the design and development of high-performance shock absorbers and racing suspension products for snowmobiles, mountain bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and off-road cars and trucks. Now FOX has redefined ride dynamics for today’s sport UTVs with its new 2.5 inch Podium X aluminum body shock.
The UTV market has exploded in the last five years. Enthusiasts have pushed manufacturers to build vehicles that go faster, fly higher, and charge through nasty desert terrain like never before. While factory shock packages are great for most riders, hardcore enthusiast and racers often need more.
With FOX 2.5 inch Podium X aluminum shocks, you can redefine your limits and go faster and higher with more control.
Robust 2.5 Inch Body
The new shock has a 6061-T6 smooth bore seamless aluminum body. The larger body allows for greater damping force capability while allowing the shock to run at lower overall temperatures. The 2.5 inch aluminum body allows a 50 percent increase in the piston area, which allows the shock to do more work with lower internal pressures, less heat, and greater durability.
Simple Dual-Speed Compression (DSC) Adjustment
With DSC, you can adjust the shock's high- and low-speed compression damping by simply turning the external adjusters. The Podium X’s DSC allows you to maximize small bump compliance and traction while still having the extra damping required for big hits.
The high-speed compression adjuster affects compression damping mainly during medium to fast suspension movements such as steep jump faces, harsh flat landings, and aggressive whoops.
The low-speed compression adjuster impacts compression damping mostly during slow suspension movements like G-outs or smooth jump landings. It also affects wheel traction and the harshness or plushness of the vehicle.
Quick and Adjustable Rebound Damping
FOX’s new UTV shock allows for personalized rebound damping adjustment. Rebound damping controls the rate at which the shock returns after it has been compressed. The ability to make adjustments as the load, riding style, and terrain change is key to staying in control.
Bottom-Out Control (B.O.C) Technology
FOX's B.O.C. technology provides extra resistance against harsh bottom-outs. As the Podium X shock is compressed, a secondary piston enters the bottom-out cup in the final 25 percent of travel to produce up to 3,000 pounds of additional damping force.
Without this, riders are forced to run a much stiffer setup to absorb a large impact. The technology allows Podium X shocks to be tuned to give improved small bump control in the upper portion of the stroke, while still maintaining the ability to absorb huge impacts and landings effectively.
Race-Run Dynamics For Every Ride
With the larger capacity, ability to absorb huge impacts, and all of the adjustability found in FOX’s new 2.5 inch Podium X shock, you can take your UTV to the next level. Whether you’re racing WORCS, Best in the Desert, or just charging through huge whoops in the sand, the new 2.5 inch Podium X shock will take you there with more control, comfort, and durability.

ROHVA and California's AB 1595
IRVINE, Calif., July 31, 2012 – The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) is the national industry organization representing the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle (ROV) industry. ROHVA is sponsored by the major manufacturers and distributors of ROVs: Arctic Cat, BRP, John Deere, Kawasaki, Polaris and Yamaha.
ROHVA’s mission is to promote the safe and responsible use of ROVs and to preserve and protect the ROV industry. Since its inception in 2007, ROHVA has pursued its mission by developing safety programs and guidelines including Model State Legislation. ROHVA also has developed voluntary vehicle design standards under the auspices of the American National Standards Institute.
ROHVA sponsored - and all of its member companies strongly support - AB 1595 in California. AB 1595 was developed by adapting ROHVA’s Model State Legislation, published since 2008, in the context of California’s existing off-highway vehicle (OHV) regulatory scheme. AB 1595 created ROVs as a separate class of OHV with an engine size not greater than 1,000 cc. The ROV provisions of AB 1595 expressly do not apply to vehicles known as sand buggies, dune buggies, ATVs or jeeps.
AB 1595 contains five provisions regulating the use of ROVs in California. Each of those requirements directly address hazards identified by CPSC in incidents resulting in serious injuries and fatalities. In order to ensure that ROVs continue to be available, and safely used, it is critical that industry and enthusiasts support legislation to ensure the vehicles are used as designed and recommended by the manufacturers.
